A few hours fettling after work and I loaded her up.
I can just about walk upright under Bridget when she’s up with the top up. If I put the windshield down I’ll for sure get one more notch of lift, and that’ll give me full stand. Also planning on getting a tough old office chair with wheels, so I’ll be able to slide under anything else…Very psyched. -

Very nice car.I agree with the comments above. We seem to be seeing more asking prices in the $13-14k range. But I truly doubt cars are selling at that price.

The flat mirrors that came with these cars are useless. But convex mirrors on the fenders have worked fine for me since 1983.

Lot of work and a fair amount of money. I ended up using a white-faced 5-inch Classic Instruments unit, plus a ’73 Bug Speedometer, which is just shy of the same diameter.
Before I did that, I looked into buying real TD gauge cases and transferring the guts to them. Too much work and money for my blood. -

Ric,Would you send me a private message or email me with more detail. To figure out what’s going wrong, I really need micro level detail of exactly what steps you followed at at which point it errored out.Maybe email would be better, you’d be able to include screen shots in an email.

Rick, The fender mirrors are practically worthless.
Alot of the original photos (especially those from England) show these cars without them.Fender mounted mirrors may be more of an American addition. You can attach the fender mirrors to a folding wind screen. My mirror was “obtained” from a 1979 Sachs G-3 Moped (which I conveniently had in… -

Just reading this post. What at the mirrors that attach to the windshield? The ones on the fenders are useless. I would like to remove them and mount mirrors on the windshield. Thnaks.

Let’s combine Roy and Allen’s methods… Tear it down, measure everything, then rebuild it with this..VW Rebuild KitSeriously, I think Roy’s method would differentiate between a 1776 and a 1600. Not sure if it’s precise enough to get within 100cc though. 1500 or 1600? 1776 or 1835? 1835 or 1915? Etc. You’d definitely have to measure a known one…[Read more]

Ed, when I had my TF-1500 I attended occasional “tech sessions” in Virginia Beach with other T series owners. As I recall it was every other month and was at another owners house that had a lift in his garage. This guy also had more T-type spares than the biggest Foreign Parts Store in town. Lotsa fun and lotsa discoveries were made that mad…[Read more]
