Roy’s in the ball park. I’d go on the lower end, maybe $4500. The market for these cars is thin. I like the seats. They look comfy.
As Roy said, the condition of the top, rubber, gel coat and floor pan are all pretty key. To his list I’ll add the tins. Looks like the full tin set is absent from your engine. That’s not a deal breaker but the car’s… -

Thanks guys. Sorry about the confusion, I have been tasked to research and try to sell this car for my father-in-law who unfortunatley is very sick and doesn’t know a whole lot about it either. He bought it a few years back from a widower who’s husband had a car collection to help her out. It is not my car and I know nothing about these kits other…[Read more]

First of all, your post is confusing. You are asking about the price “if we were to sell it,” and you referred twice to “what we have.” Are you thinking about buying this, or do you already own it and you want to sell it? If you already have it, why don’t you know anything about your own car? Did you inherit? Because otherwise it makes no s…[Read more]

Looks like a nice replica. To really get the best price (or even most accurate answer to your “what’s it worth” question), you should offer more photos.
Interior, engine. Damage, cracking of gel coat? Does everything work? Rust??? Condition of the floor pans?Mileage on the odometer of a 45 yo car means practically nothing to me. (If the or…[Read more] -

LHR. I usually go to the B-A-P each year. Been going to that show since 2003. Its 3 hrs from me. Hopefully you, Kent and me can meet there. More too if they’re willing. Kent and I met up there last year. Weather was okay but rain the day before and forecast for late that afternoon put a damper on attendance. Hopefully this year will be better. 🙂

KentT wrote:let me know, so we can get together. Will do. Only 4 1/2 hours for me.I would go for sure if both events (B-A-P and CYW) were on the same weekend. I like to bundle events and Chattanooga is on my route to there so it would have been perfect. 🙂 Just will try to make one or the other anyway, weather permitting. -

Interesting. Sounds simple enough without actually having looked at the wiring yet.
I had already looked at that same web site after my message last time, and that’s all I got to see so far. Stopped looking real quick because all I saw there were $125+ LED setups. (was a ‘net search page, 2X4 troffer, now that I’ve looked again)So a big thanks for… -

These are the LED tubes I used. Comparable ones at HD are $16 and change, as I recall. Since mine were T12s (no shunts), I was able to use the original tombstones. These have all power one one end only, and polarity isn’t important. Half the leads go to hot, half to neutral. I simply snipped the wires aff the ballasts and off the end not used, and…[Read more]

That’s a haul for me (5 1/2 hour drive) but I may give it a try. I do the Fl Bug Jam in Dade City, FL and that’s a 5 hr drive but I generally stay overnight Saturday night. I’ll have to think some on that.

All VWs. There was even a TDr displayed last spring. Didn’t go last fall. If anyone is coming definitely let me know, so we can get together. I’m minutes away!

Thanks for telling of that one, been a few years since I was up there and I had only known of the Pigeon Forge car shows. Gives me a reason to go in the Spring if I decide to do that.
I was able to find a new web page showing the next show, other one is still saying “42” from October 2015 for now.Says “all VW” so maybe… -

Yes, and no car seats for kids.
The good outweighs the bad but I have sympathy for parents needing to go through all the trouble of dealing with those things. Just saw a repeat of a news story I had seen before about little kids wearing winter coats causing a possibility to slip out because of the changes in tightness.Wish it never happened but my… -

Didn’t know there were LED replacements for that.
Going to suggest it to my 83 y.o. father for his house garage because he has had trouble recently with those fluorescent lights. The basement we finished ourselves over 25 years ago uses them in the drop ceiling, very uneven lighting from them.I was there last week changing out the dining room light… -

Kent. Is Circle Yer Wagons a VW single/double cab, and camper only show or are beetles, things, Ghias etc. allowed? Never been to that one. I may have to check it out. 🙂

It’s on my radar since it’s only a couple hours away. Since I don’t really need anything from the swap meet, and my TDr likely won’t be ready (not that it is show-worthy anyway), it’s not a must for me…I’ll soon need to take an inventory and start getting rid of old or not needed parts, such as the 1500 SP that I just yanked out. But, Circle Yer…[Read more]

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I should get the car back from the upholsterer by Monday and will do some checking into these things. The most likely culprit seems likely the throttle cable housing at the fan shroud. Air leaks seem unlikely since the carb is new. Brakes? Dunno. May try to find the CRC stuff mentioned in the PM article.…[Read more]
