painted the pans with Raptor Bedliner Spray. They came out great. I also moved the Ebrake lines as recommended.

Spent today re-routing wires, soldering ring and spade ends, shrinking heat-shrink tubing, looking for more wire. I think I have the fan all squared up now. But not so sure.
After all the wires were done (and by “all the wires” I mean “all the wires I can get to without crawling under the dash.” There are many, several, myriad other wires yet to… -

Mine has two bulb sockets exposed in the inside fender. ( separate bulb of the signal light and the combination tail/stop light. The above unit doesn’t have the separate signal light so requires a “converter” to make it work.

Thanks, Steve. Exactly how I meant to say it.

The only thing protruding into the wheel well on mine is the socket base for the light bulb. You can use a spark plug wire boot ( distributor end) to seal that. These LED’s are cool…there’s a thread on them somewhere in here…unfortunately , I’m not running that style lamp.

The Laffer is a coveted car. Well-made (usually at the factory in brazil), roll-up windows; just different enough from a TD replica to be something different. They have their own club. Or, at least, they used to.

Took a few days off from the car and everything else. Finished the air intake and then got the engine running and idling today.
Coolant burping was a real issue. Ran water through it and the top side was glugging through very hot. She was geysering out past the garden hose I was running into her. T he pipes were pinging. Could not keep the rad… -

But honey it followed me home! -

BDriver mentioned an Auburn Speedster. There were 2 of them in the Great Race. And a whole bunch of Ford Speedsters.
There were 6 cars participating that were in their 90’s.If you get the chance to see these guys, do it. Not only are the cars tough, most of the drivers and navigators are to be kind: getting up there in age. -

Greg, VW installed 2 nuts on each of the adjusters rather than lockwashers. The reason for this is that if you have the adjusters tight enough for a lockwasher to work – it is too tight and your rear brakes are dragging. Not good!
Either put two nuts on each side and, once adjusted, tighten the second nut against the first to “lock” or in… -

The adjusters had a lot of slack and the nuts had no lock washers so it appears to me they just loosened up with vibration

Greg,
The emergency brake lever pushes one set of shoes in the rear brakes against the drums.Make sure that the rear brakes are properly adjusted before you take up the slack at the lever. The adjusters at the lever are there to take up stretch in the cables, not to make up for rear brakes that need to be adjusted.BDriver -

So, do you guys think this car is beautiful?? I’m apparently too much of a Philistine to appreciate beauty. To me it looks like a caricature of a car. I will say that it is huge….as in really huge. Looks like what once may have been a beautiful car with a butt job, a nose job, boob job, botox and lots of big hair.
