The adjusters had a lot of slack and the nuts had no lock washers so it appears to me they just loosened up with vibration

Greg,
The emergency brake lever pushes one set of shoes in the rear brakes against the drums.Make sure that the rear brakes are properly adjusted before you take up the slack at the lever. The adjusters at the lever are there to take up stretch in the cables, not to make up for rear brakes that need to be adjusted.BDriver -

So, do you guys think this car is beautiful?? I’m apparently too much of a Philistine to appreciate beauty. To me it looks like a caricature of a car. I will say that it is huge….as in really huge. Looks like what once may have been a beautiful car with a butt job, a nose job, boob job, botox and lots of big hair.

I’m impressed that someone would spend the bucks to recreate one of the Art Deco cars of the period.
It puts the Auburn Speedster and Cord 810 into perspective. -

There was one parked on display at Carlisle . Did not know they would even sell it as a kit.

Roy, it sounds like fun. It would make for an 8+ hour run home. It’s doable but you’re gonna have to talk me into it. You’re close enough to Va Beach to be there Sun after the show. Monday to enjoy your town, then a mad dash home on Tuesday. I’ll have to check vacation calendar at work.

I dig some digging through older stories on the great race web site.
John Corey’s “wounded Speedster” is a car of his own creation…a 32 Buick fenderless Speedster.Looking at the history John’s creation and his fabrications skills, I suspect John C… -

I like it. Not sure I can do it. But really tempted to try. Keep talking.

Paul, I wouldn’t have mentioned the possible Corey link if not for this line in one of his posts:
“So, early this morning, while the others made their first day???s run, we rose early back home where we dropped the wounded Speedster.” -

Roy, our friend on the SOG is Cory Drake, not John Corey.

Or, would anybody be interested in coming to the “World’s first annual TDr sleepover at Roy & Julie’s”?
We could do it at anytime or immediately before or after the Virginia Beach Air & Auto show at the end of October. There are 3 TDr’s that live here and we have 5 spare bedrooms. …or you could bring pup-tents. I have plenty of parking sp… -

Don’t miss it, Roy.
In 2011 the group came through Chambersburg, PA & I rode out with a couple of the Speedster guys to watch. Took some video.I’d really love to run it but pretty sure Bridget wouldn’t rate–even before, when fitted with her VW motor. Very cool rally though.Hey…any interest in running a “grand tour” of some sort with our cars?… -

Still working on it.
Coolant pipes are now all-but finalized. Rear hanger was quite tricky and I am very creative (which is to say it’s probably not good). Also had to take some time today and weld my crossmember back together. Here’s the blow-by-blow.edsnova2014-06-27 20:16:01

Just a finite point about the MGTC. They were all right hand drive. I wish they had only added 4 minutes stoppage time. I lived in Portugal for 2 years but I wanted the US of A to advance.

Pretty nice, apart from the wheels. I’ve bookmarked that website, too. Thanks for the heads-up, Ed.

I started w/ the heat tape and that helped but ended up going to a junk yard and using a SUV Cat shield and using stainless heat tape straps to strap it to my upper exhaust on top of the what I already put on – helped a lot

Very impressive.
Making the bracket for the e-brake handle looks tricky. But I ended up making one for the heater control, and that was tricky too. -
greg press replied to the topic Muffler Tape Use in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years, 9 months ago
I bought a heat shield and strapped it on with some very large metal hose clamps . It works very good

Is the clutch disengaging fully?
Do you have to push the pedal to the firewall to shift into first or reverse? Are you able to fully depress the clutch pedal fully? How much free play do you have at the top of the pedal. More than an inch is too much.BDriver - Load More
