I took the trim rings off last year for the auto X & had a hard time getting them back on. Hard enough that I started to like the look without them better.
I used the “old school” ones that fit down below the weight lip. Stainless, and expensive so, given the amount of time they were on the car, probably not worth the money, in retrospect.I might… -

I have aluminum trim rings on the steel wheels on my car. I have never been pleased with the finish on them in comparison to all the other chrome on the car. They’re ok , but not quite right.

The reason I chose to go with the resin-coated decals is that I could order the size that I needed to cover the Empi emblem — though I don’t recall what size that was…
In addition to the adhesive on the back of the decal, I used clear weatherstrip adhesive to get a good bond. The stainless steel trim rings are shinier than the aluminum ones…… -

I just found these at SOCAL — do you think the MG medallions will cover the 3 holes?
Ed, I think I remember that you had trim rings on Bridgett at one time? Worth the $$? I also found that apparently there are Aluminum Beauty Rings that have holes and SS Trim Rings that are solid???? Opinions? Thanks, Jack -

Lou! This is gonna work.
I think your two best sources here are Bill, who built his Ford-powered kit 20 years ago and raced it; and Gabor, who made his own frame so as to convert a Chevette kit to Ford v6 power. Both men are hyper-skilled and friendly. There are other members with Ford kits too, some recently finished. You will be regaled with tales… -

You can also use the original-style MG medallions. Moss has them for $11 each–which is more than I paid a few years back. You can surely find them cheaper.
I”m told the “empi” logo shows just a little on the sides but a piece of pie tin could cure that. -

Thanks Kent. That site with the logos is pretty amazing — lots of options. I like this one as well:

I don’t have a good picture of them installed, but these are the hubcaps I have on silver-painted wheels — the common “flat-style” with Empi world logo, widely available:
With these resin-domed decals covering the Empi world logo in the center, in red on silver instead of red on black:… -

OOPS!! it even says 165R15 on the side of the tire — I just finished replacing the front brake pads on my Ford Ranger so I had 14″ wheels on the brain…
Thanks Roy —I guess I have too many cars with different wheel diameters… -

That Moss Pickup TD was all custom, and has an impressive pedigree as it was built by George Beavis. The Beavis Special of the time used an Offenhauser engine to good effect. The original was a basically stock TD body, though by two years later he had streamlined it to unrecognizability.
I’ve not been able to find any pics of the original (here’s… -

If I had to mount a pickup bed I think that the short and narrow Ford Model T pickup bed style would work with the lines of an MG TD.

As some of you know, I bought myself a MIG welder last year for a selfie birthday 71st present. Here’s what I have been taught or discovered (iron/steel only – I have not tried alum or SS):
1. Welding with gas is like 1000% easier than with the flux core gas free wire. (Don’t buy one that has no provision for gas, even if you don’t plan to use i… - Load More
