I was a Meguiar’s Quick Detailer user for years.
Then a friend from the Speedster Owners Group turned me on to this stuff:I never looked back. The product is TERRIFIC! -

Roy,You could be on to something ..Luckily I live on the back side of the island where its not too windy and no sand to speak of ..just live oak trees for shade and oak leaves continually falling uggghhh. I couldn’t think of having my beloved outa my sight locked away in some strange storage shed miles and miles away ..As I think of it ..…[Read more]

John, you might want to reconsider long term storage outdoors with a cover on. Esp in sandy areas! I once ruined a nice and rather expensive paint job on a TR6, as the sand slowly turned the inside of the cover into sandpaper and the wind worked it over all the parts it rested upon. Paul had a similar experience where it dulled and took off c…[Read more]

Several years ago I had a hot looking boat. Every time I used it I gave it a quick wipe down with Lemon Pledge. It went on quick, wiped down quick and looked fantastic for that day’s outing. Does not last, but a really good look with minimum arm work. But for a good long lasting wax, make sure it’s carnauba based, like Meguire’s for example.

A slightly odd perspective, but this is an iPhone panorama of our seven TDr’s at the show:

Outstanding weekend with six outstanding gentlemen, Roy, Ed, Bill, Jack, Gabor and Dale.Oh, yeah, and me.I’m sure lots of pictures will be coming, but I thought I should post this one without delay. Midst cars worth tens and hundreds of thousands dollars and in fact, millions as Roy points out, the organizers saw fit to recognize our humble TDr club….

Roy, sounds like you all had a great time. Can’t wait to see some pics. Maybe next year mine will be in shape to go. I think the 300 SL Gullwing was checking out your ride…..Sam

I expect that Ed will do his usual expert write-up of the Air & Auto Show, so I won’t bother you with my synopsis. Absolutely beautiful weather. Couldn’t have been any better. But on my way back to the Inn from the show @ 50mph , I looked in my rear-view mirror and, well, here is an over the shoulder shot of my neck, snoopy hat, leather col…[Read more]

I use the hood prop rod that was on mine when I bought it usually, but for shows and even when I need more access, I have a old bow string (red and white to match the car)that I loop around the latch and hook to the body. It gives a lot more visibility and access.

OK, thanks for the info. I could not find Shine On. I’ll try the Ultimate Quik Detailer after the Polymer sealant. I guess i’ll wipe it off with alcohol and a little rubbing compound first and hope for the best. It’s a dust bowl down here in summer in recent years.
P.S. I heard a metallic doinging niose in the driver side front end. I…[Read more]

Thanks, I’ll try that. When I rebuilt the shifter I added an adjustable fitting to the shift rod where it attaches to the coupler in the rear. I might try tweaking that a bit as well.

I use Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Detailer??? after waxing or using Meguiars Polymer sealent and I am happy with it.I haven’t waxed my car since last August 2012. The caveat with stuff like Shine On is that it may leave a hard film which in time can flake off and looks like an old spotchy( is that a word?) clear coat and is a bear to get off…[Read more]

I wish some one would try a product called SHINE ON. If you search shine on there is a video about it. The video looks real good . I called them and they insist it will work . Some day I will take the plunge and buy it, then we will all be driving beautifully finished cars.
