Now there’s an idea that I may pick up on: carpet under the when working underneath.

Paul, is there some software tweak we can get that will put everything Gabor posts into some kind of special “sticky” thread that’s highlighted so it’s easy to find? Every time the dude taps keys he writes something smart & worth remembering.

Yes, I have a photo of a cycle fendered TD on my work computer. I’ll post it tomorrow if I can remember. Anyway…Progress…
Running boards still need to be mounted. Should be back on the ground tomorrow. Today really took a toll on my back and knees.

Front crossmember is already in place with the Fiberfab Ford kit. No modifications required. All suspension and steering components bolt right up. Steering column requires modification. Instructions are in the Manual downloads at the left of your screen or obtain components from a supplier such as Borgeson. Rear springs from donor car have to be…[Read more]

Gabor Kesseru replied to the topic Battery Cable Length in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years, 11 months ago
If you want long battery cable, the best source is your local welding supply store. The cables they stock have more strands per the same gauge cable. Their stuff is made for high current. Using welding cable is better than electrician type cable because current mostly runs on the surface of the strands, so more strands equals more surface area and…[Read more]

Not sure what the question is. The Ford and Chevy CMC/FF kits come with a completed frame that receive parts from the donor car. In the Chevette version, it’s almost all bolt on/bolt off. With the Ford kit, there is some serious cutting to get the front cross-member out from the donor car.

Sam,That procedure should work for the 30 PICT as well but I’m not sure of the accel pump volume limits. Just as long as the accelerator pump in not positioned at the rear of the carb like the 28s to 30PICT1. I can’t see why the 30PICT-2, -3 and 34PICT-3 and -4 shouldn’t work.newkitman2013-09-29 11:19:59

Accelerator Pump Adjustmenthttp://www.vw-resource.com/acclrtr3.htmlAllen gave me the above link for adjusting the accel pump on a 34 pict for use with a mech adv. distr. Does anybody know if this adjustment procedure also applies to the 30 pict 3 carb when using a mech adv distr? Thanks.Sam

I have a VW based TD kit and my kit is a late CMC/Fiberfab kit (some CMC and some Fiberfab parts). I took Paul Mossberg’s advice and downloaded the assembly manuals from the download manuals tab on the left. I haven’t checked the Pinto or Chevette based TD manuals but the VW manuals give the measurements. Hopefully someone with a Pinto based TD…[Read more]

You are right in being concerned. I know that they were originally a press fit. I’m not sure about the lock tight or even JB Weld. Both will keep the nipple tight but I don’t know about the heat. Same with silver solder. Heat might meld or weaken the lock tight and JB Weld and the vibration of the pump could pop the nipple out. As the pump cost is…[Read more]

Hey Greg…small world.Lauren is sitting right here. She’s home with me for the weekend for my dad’s 90th birthday celebration. Took her a minute to recall the association….but she does remember Heather. They were in the same rush group in the Spring 2012 semester. Ended up in different sororities.
