<article>
While living in the beautiful Grayton Beach area, I drove and enjoyed this fun little car on 30a for many years.
I recently moved back to Atlanta and thought I had a new home for this toy but it is now available again.
It is a kit built replica on a 1971 VW chassis. It is mechanically in great condition. It starts and runs beautifully,…

Welcome! I met one of the Fusseneggers a few years ago at the Pittsburg Grand Prix. The famly still has a fiberglass parts business called Smoothline. The man did not recall how many BCWs they made. I think he said it was way fewer than 200, though he did say a lot went overseas.

Hi Tom, I have a BCW with Chevette power. Have owned the car for about 10 years. It’s been generally great. When I learn how to add a picture to this site I’ll get one off to you, and everyone else. Most of the repairs I’ve encountered have been typical “old” U.S. type issues. recently had water pump replaced. Nice part is, the parts are o…[Read more]

Not to belabor the point, but Bill’s front seat arrangement allows the most possible leg (and chest) room available in our TDr’s. Very roomy and comfortable.

Somewhere on this site I did a repair with pictures of the wood base seats that eliminates the painful numbing and on top of it allows more distance from the steering wheel and sits you lower in the car. I am a big guy ( working on that) and have no issues with my seating position etc. Others on here have seen my seating and will agree.
I think…[Read more]

I’ve seen a couple with bucket seats since I started this. They look roomy but don’t know what kind of seats they are.I am thinking of trying some Mustang seats( 65,66 ) or Mustang II if I can find them. Thanks for the ideas. I have it for sale but don’t really want to sell it.

If these are VW pan cars there’s not too much that can be done. I don’t think VW bucket seats will work without modification, because the seat placement on a TD replica is about where the back seats on the bug were. The way the pan and the tunnel are shaped, you don’t have the width to put the stock bucket there.
The fiberglass bulkhead that…[Read more]

My kit came with a bench type seat but I’m thinking about trading it in for a set of VW buckets…Has anyone had any luck with those or should I just have my wooden bench seats redone? It sounds like some of you have had problems with seats…I wouldn’t mind sitting a little lower to the ground but not at the expense of being any closer to the…[Read more]

Hey Gang
I still like my steering column renovation…Just like I previously wrote, I took out the old VW steering column and traded it for a steering rod. All the electric gets moved to the dash! It looks much more authentic and I have all the room me and my ageing pot belly need! LOL!
I could’ve run the shaft all the way to the steering box…[Read more]
