Any idea how we work up our weights? Do we use the known chassis front and rear end and fudge in the fiberglass weights? What do our TDs weight anyway?

July 17, 2011 at 11:08 am #2454051500 to start with. Suprised as I thought our cars were slightly over 1000. Bud 1500 it is. I can always take it to the nearby truck scales and get a curb weight. Thanks Paul.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackJuly 18, 2011 at 8:38 am #245406Allen,
I took my car and had it weighted at the local town dump with has a pretty accurate truck scale for weighting trash, they didn’t charge me. I weighted the car with the front tires on the scale then just the rear tires and then the total car. Race cars get corner weights with four scales one on each tire so they can be properly tuned. Probably not necessary for our TD replicas. It’s all good data as I plan to add coil over shocks and to get the spring weight right it’s good to know the weight of the vehicle.
July 18, 2011 at 9:44 am #245407Thanks for the info Rob. I make regular trips to the county dump. I’ll have to see what they’ll do for me and pick a day that they aren’t to busy.

July 18, 2011 at 5:38 pm #245409It would be nice to get weights on all the various manufacturers TD’s
July 18, 2011 at 6:40 pm #245410With or without their drivers?
Vehicle weight is already a suggested entry on the Manufacturer Comparison thread.

July 19, 2011 at 10:37 am #245411My weights were with driver however your results may differ. I’m a stealth 200 lb.
July 19, 2011 at 5:38 pm #245412Manufacturers Data Sheet shows the Allison weight with the VW drive train and a full tank of gas (14 gal) is 1718# with a weight ration of 68% rear and 32% front.
The Nissan power plant brings it up to 2478# with a full tank of gas 14 gal. They don’t specify the front to rear weight ratio on the front engine Nissan power plant.
