newbie with a fuel tank question

Thanks….I’ll have to start looking for an good used earlier gas tank. I think that would be the easiest route to go so I just have to shorten the filler neck. Hope I can find one locally.

Sam, I would be very surprised if Simmons VW Restoration (just outside or New Bern) did not have a tank that would work for you.  But, be advised that you may have to have it cleaned out – not always an easy task.

Worst case, there are Brazilian/Mexican made new ones on the aftermarket for about $125.  But, a good used German original is the best bet if you can find one close.  IMO, a used one MUST be inspected before buying because if people have left this ethanol gas sit in they, they rust badly from the inside out…
