February 27, 2012 at 12:16 am #249461Greg,
Congratulations on the pending birth! Exciting news!
Those t-shirt and hat ideas are several years old.
Near as I can recall, there was never enough interest to go to production with any of them.Sorry.

February 27, 2012 at 8:46 am #249463Hey Guys
I to wanted a shirt etc. So I went online to a site http://www.cafepress.com and ordered one for my wife and I. You can customize your shirt etc. I downloaded a picture of my car and added wording to the back and added wording to the front. As soon as I get them I will post a picture. Should have them later this week. They are about $20.00 each.MarkFebruary 27, 2012 at 10:55 am #249464I don’t sleep!

February 27, 2012 at 2:34 pm #249465I had a custom embroidered polo shirt, long sleeve denim shrt and tee shirt done to matching colors by an eBay seller. She offered discounts to this club, but nobody except me ordered from her.MGLondonRoadste2012-02-27 14:35:26
February 27, 2012 at 2:59 pm #249466Say, Mark, you might be onto something.
My wife hand-painted my car on a tie a couple years back, but I don’t think that’s likely to scale.
Given that the Speedster guys’ uniform is a particular brand of (spendy, imho) Hawaiian shirt, it might do for the forces of good taste (i.e., us), which appear to be increasing, to take on a sort of counter-uniform. Maybe your ebay seller can yet be talked into dashing off a limited edition run of polo (not to say “auto polo”) shirts for the TD Replica club.
How about you post a photo of what you got?
February 27, 2012 at 3:08 pm #249467I believe this ad is from the retailer MGL..R.. mentioned:
The Speedster Owners Group “uniform” is not a particular brand nor is it a uniform. But they do have a tradition of wearing Hawaiian shirts for their Saturday dinner at Carlisle.Hawaiian shirts, aka “Aloha shirts” are available from $9.99 to hundreds of dollars. Trust me on this. I know. I own about 75! Plus a dozen Christmas shirts!Paul Mossberg

February 27, 2012 at 7:31 pm #249468Callin’ you out, my brother! While a person may be able to “pass” with any reasonably loud, tropically-themed garment, it is clear enough that the real cognoscenti wears only Reyn Spooner. This, I submit, is why only Reyn Spooner objects, and not the kinds of shirts you or I might pick up at the Salvation Army Store, are hawked and coveted–not to say “fetishized”–by those on the Speedy site.
I will leave it to our TD Brothers to judge if said casual wear is, as I have stated, “spendy.”

February 27, 2012 at 10:07 pm #249469Yes, Paul, that is the eBay link the embroidery lady, Sheri, who did my shirts. I didn’t get the group rate when I ordered, because I was a party of one. Here’s her question about group discounts:
Hello,
Yes, I can still offer a group discount. About how many shirts would you be interested in?
Sheri– sewunusuals
I got red MG TD on some of my shirts and a “silver” Honda S2000 embroidered by her, too. Even a pale yellow (cream) on denim for my London Roadster. She’ll try to make yours in any color you desire.
Regards,
MarkFebruary 28, 2012 at 9:24 am #249470Calling me out? I’ll see you on the playground after school Ed! And we can have it out there! Or maybe you can mix up those drinks you make at Carlisle!
I can’t beleive we’re debating clothes! What’s happening to us? That said…..I already acknowledged that Hawaiian shirts can be pricey. But like anything else, a smart shopper will be able to find deals.I have a couple favorite web sites, one in particular is http://www.alohashirtshop.com. I wait for their sales. And I’m on their email list for insider specials. And to steal your word, the TRUE cognoscenti know Reyn Spooner is NOT the only game in town. I really don’t care for Spooner, either the designs or the fit. And there are zero Spooners in my collection. There are MANY other high quality manufacturers. Can we talk about cars now?Paul Mossberg

February 28, 2012 at 9:34 am #249471Paul ‘n Ed: Here is a pic of my car patiently waiting for it’s engine to be plugged in. (Notice the shirt on top? )
It was 28 degreeeees here yesterday. – Not exactly Hawaiian weather.
February 28, 2012 at 9:47 am #249472Hmmm…and a rack of clothes against the wall.

February 28, 2012 at 10:57 am #249473Just some of my coats/jackets that my wife won’t allow in the house because they have the distinct fragrance of eau d’gasoline or kerosene or carburetor cleaner. Not her favorites.
February 28, 2012 at 11:28 am #249474Ahh….I love the smell of Eau de Gasoline in the morning! Shell and Maxwell House keeps me running.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 28, 2012 at 12:03 pm #249475Is any one interested in an embroidered logo shirt? Sheri has two different materials for polo shirts and new or faded demin long sleeve, as well as warm weather tee shirts that she can ebroider.
She does the MG TD in your choice of colors and can add one line of ebroidered text. I had “London Roadster” added to my pale yellow MG TD replica embroidered denim shirt.February 28, 2012 at 12:11 pm #249476Is she limiting orders to the polo’s and long sleeve denims?

February 28, 2012 at 12:27 pm #249477No limit that I know of. I think she wants a number of orders to offer a group discount. At $15 and $20 per shirt, I think that is pretty reasonable as it is. I’m very pleased with her work.
Thanks for posting that link, Paul. She offers many products, but the shirts seem to fall into 3 categories: Denim or knit long sleeve or short sleeve, polo or knit, or tee shirts. She also offers sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts with zipper, and many other products.MGLondonRoadste2012-02-28 12:36:44
February 28, 2012 at 12:39 pm #249478I’ll take four if we are going to get a group purchase going.
February 28, 2012 at 4:39 pm #249479Mark, are you heading up the orders or do we all contact her indivually? Montie
February 28, 2012 at 5:47 pm #249480Logo? I might be down for one but still not sure what exact shirt we’re contemplating here.
February 28, 2012 at 10:20 pm #249481A couple of polo shirts are good for me. Each with a red TD with white interior. Do we want TDReplica.com wrtiien below the car?

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 29, 2012 at 9:19 am #249482I wasn’t planning to head up a group order. When we chatted last time, a few months ago, she was going to offer the discount to anyone who identifed themselves as a club member. Her last question to me when I asked if she was still offering the discount was to ask how many shirts she would be looking at. I really don’t have the time to devote to handling a group purchase, but if I can tell her we’re in for 2 or 50 shirts, then she can get a better idea of the volume expected. I wouldn’t want to have to pay for shipping twice, so it would probably be better to have each person order and pay for their own stock and shipping fees. I’m just trying to see if by sending business her way that we might be able to get a discount. I paid her retail price for my shirts, so any savings will be for those following me.MGLondonRoadste2012-02-29 09:29:41
February 29, 2012 at 9:47 am #249483Hey Mark
Do you have a phone no. for her or just contact her via e-mail thru. ebay with questions?February 29, 2012 at 9:59 am #249484To see the full product line, go to the web site, not her ebay ads.
The web site does not list a phone number. Just a “contact us” page and an email link.Contact page:Email address:Paul Mossberg
