    @1oldbuzz

    After seeing a few of the folks mention cip1 on here,I searched their site.I needed front grease seals for the tortion tubes.I tried the local parts stores, half had no idea what I was talking about.The one parts store that thought they knew had a price of $41 for the 4 seals and 2 weeks to get them.Found cip1 to be very reasonably priced and a wide selection of replacement parts.Example they had the front seals in a kit $7.50 for all 4.

    My suggestion is to add a link on the links page for the VW based folks.

    Nice. New grease seals needed for the adjustable beam installation?

     Ed, While new seals may not be absolutely necessary, it just makes sense to replace them while the suspensoin is dessasembled.You don’t want grease oozing out or dirt getting in and the cost is reasonable. Also check the tie rod ends and other parts for wear as well.

    Well no adjustable beam.Just a complete dissasembly of the front beam,to check for anything worn out and cleaning/painting.Upon teardown a couple of the seals were torn,as well as a couple of the ball joint boots.The shopping list came to around $60 for seals,ball joint boots,swaybar bushinigs and straps,and rear stub axle seals and gaskets.All in all about $500 in parts and goodies in the last month.Tryin hard to get this car done and on the road this year.

    I think you’ll make it, oldbuzz. You seem a productive sort. Unlike me. Every Sunday night I seem to render Bridget undriveable again.

    http://www.thesamba.com is THE website for VW’s…great info there for the VW based TD crowd.

    The air-cooled VW aftermarket (restoration and custom) is very vibrant with literally hundreds of vendors out there…most on the left coast though.

    Here are a few on the east coast (CT, MD, PA) that I’ve dealt with:

    Peek Performance (Lanham, MD)

    Bug City (Berlin, CT)

    Bugstuff (West Brownsville, PA)

    Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ has two VW show/race/swap meets every year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall.

    Some west coast vendors I’ve dealt with:

    Aircooled.net (Murray, UT)

    Doghouse (Pahrump, NV)

    Wolfsburg West (Corona, CA)

    CB Performance (Farmersville, CA)
