here is a link to a guide for determining the year of a VW bug chassis and engine. Kind of a good thing you need carpet because the chassis number is under it–on the tunnel under the seat, or between the seats. The engine number is in an easy to see place on the generator support flange. The generator is that thing on the upper right with the pully on it. You’ll see the numbers.
Stock VW air cleaners don’t always fit. My air cleaner is a tube of expanded metal with some kind of cloth wrapped around and clamped. K&N makes good (and spendy) filters that look quite a bit better.
As for the carpet, I think other folks on this forum have had some experience with it. Not likely to be able to buy a replacement carpet, but you can make one if you remove the old one carefully and use it as a pattern when cutting the new.
Post some pics of your car and someone’ll tell you who the kit maker was and how to locate the maker’s ID plates.
