Brake fluid should take a couple years to turn black and even then it should still do its job.If you had a leak you would be constantly adding.Sound like your system has been contaminaited with something.

2″ conduit for electric wires, some of those float noodles split down the middle and put over the conduit, then wrap it in electrical tape, should give a good representation of a roll bar for under $20

First off I would like to see some pics of this chevy powered beast.
Now I would like to know where is the master mounted,up on the firewall or down under the floor, this makes a BIG differance as fluid will flow back to the master if its below the calipers or wheel cylinders,it would need an anti flowback valve.
any non power gm master should give…[Read more] -
Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic 3rd Brake light in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 5 months ago
My 2 cents
The person behind you needs to be watching whats in front of them,3rd brake light or even a 4th is not going to help when they are too busy texting.
I would invest in more mirrors so I can see them coming and always watch for a forward escape route.
They do add a nice touch though for the ones that do pay attention to the road. -

You could try live animal traps,a box trap is easy enough to make. And then do the animal freindly thing and take a drive to the country and let them go.Or stew is a good chioce also.
peanuts is a good choice for bait as well as peanut butter,or a cob of corn. -

If it helps.I scaled my MG awhile back,an old balance the pointer truck scale.
I came up with somthing like a total weight of 1650,660 front, and 900 on the rear.It was also a windy day and I think I wasn’t heavy enough to plant the scale.
Yes I know it doesn’t add up correctly. However,if my notes are correct stock Vdubs come in at-1764-1960,with a…[Read more] -

Royal;
I’m going to go out on a limb here.I think your frontend is rusted tight.I went back and looked at your pics(enlarged)I can see grease oozing from the zerks, bad sign, there should be grease oozing out the ends of the torsion tubes, not the zerks.I belive there to be rust buildup inside the tubes, and or the bearings are rusted. You might end up…[Read more] -

My question is;who built the car?,you?,or did you purchase.from the pics it looks like a converted super to standard,or as stated the beem was raised,or the front of the body was shimmed up for some reason,You can see too much of the steering box in the pics, you have to get on the ground an look to see mine

I think you guys should move to Wisconsin,I do Brake work.Complete brake sytem for my 55 to include all new parts front and rear and all lines hard and soft was under $300 and a new master and booster.
If you would pay my gas and time I could still do it for less.
Sorry didn’t mean to be rude but your brake job prices are just nuts -

The doohicky is a small press for removing a joint from its tapper socket. However the way the ball joints are positioned on the vw front end there is no room for the tool.I have used a 2 hammers for stubborn joints, use a heavy hammer on one side as a backer/dolly and give a couple wacks with the 2nd hammer and the joint should pop. Most of the…[Read more]

Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 13 years, 6 months ago
My 2 cents is it will give you something to bolt the fancy thin bumper to yes.
Most of the cars on the road are trucks and some sort of suv crossover,to wich have a bumper hight 8-12 inches over the mg.
is the correct bumper reinforcement going to stop anything?
Think about this why are none of these kits produced any more? -

Don’t let a few tell you its not too late.I was told you can’t convert a super to a standard without a front bulkhead conversion that nobody has seen.
Just look in my photo album.
I can do it if someone tells me it can’t be done.
Sounds like you have all the needed parts due any day.The rest is sheet metal repair,no biggy.

Change your viewpoint. Cracks, paint chips and spider webs are called patina. Wear them with pride.
Besides all that sanding gets real messy and time consuming.
Mine has all the above, went to a small car show last saturday, never even wiped off the bugs.Left early as the wife wasn’t feeling well.Recieved an award in the mail 3 days later.
