I once considered putting a cup holder in the left running board. Easily accessible and out of the way.

The charm of the replica TD is that it IS 60+ year old technology. No power steering, no power windows (windows?), no locks, no air bags, no ABS, no crash bumpers, no crumple zones, no computers. Ah, the allure of the simplicity of the past.

Once again pouring rain at registration and tech inspection. Hopefully the track will dry sometime tomorrow.

Yes, just bend the float arm.

We are going to try again. This is the same course as the Pagoda Hillclimb where I crashed in June with an additional mile of higher speed road along Skyline Drive. This is where I damaged the 4 cylinder engine last year. Hopefully, I can muster the courage to open it up along there.

20 mph is a huge jump. I can only assume the drive train came from more than one vehicle to be that mismatched. On the transmission end of your speedometer is a plastic gear. There are gears available with different number of teeth on them. By changing to a different toothed gear you can alter the speed reading. Increasing teeth will result in…[Read more]

This morning I stripped the fuel delivery system from the car. There was a mid range, part throttle, stumble that wasn’t affected by making adjustments. I feel I need MORE FUEL!!! I’ll have a larger capacity fuel pump tomorrow and will install with larger fuel lines. The only restriction left in the system will be the supply line built into the…[Read more]

Roy, that was a great video. Ah, to have all that equipment and, not to mention, all that time.
Jack, my wipers always parked to the left. Do different VW wiper motors park differently?
Now you get to play with the adjustment screw on the arm and get them to park flat.

It’s my guess that ManyPenny feels better balanced on the road, than does Emma. Now that you have both configurations, what are your feelings?
Congratulation on finishing this stage of your build. (They’re never done)

Ok. In mounting the fenders I couldn’t get them off the tires. It seems the shock manufacturer moved the location of the threads that held the adjustable lower spring perch. Even cranked up to its limits the tires rubbed.
A local race car shop was able to supply a longer spring, but everything snowballs, the lower control arms had to come off …[Read more]

It was fine at 3-4 grand. Flog it at 6. It was the sustained 7 that did it in.
Keep in mind it was cammed and ran a 4 barrel carb. The cam came on at about 2,500.

Being as those mirrors are known to fall off in hotter weather, I would try to gradually heat the area and get behind it with some fine wire, fishing line or something along those lines to slice through the adhesive. Carefully. Glass is fragile.
