My tachometer is showing less than 1500rpm at 55mph. Idle speed rpms are normal. Any ideas, short of replacement?

LOL! I read your struggles with your clutch cable replacement. That is EXACTLY why I paid to have someone else struggle with it.

I removed the top recently and when I put it back on, I must have changed something. Now the front keeps coming out of the groove while driving. I’m assuming that something needs adjusted (tightened?) but have tried a few things and nothing works. Any ideas?

I got my Duchess back today. The clutch cable and accelerator cable are now brand new and it cost me almost $300. Worth it, though, because now I can start putting all the new parts on it that I have been ordering since it went in for repairs.

I’d like to find out if my Duchess is painted in an original color scheme. It’s tan with chocolate brown fenders and running boards. I want to match some touch up paint (without taking a fender and a door to Home Depot). Any suggestions?

My name is Bud and I’m from Punta Gorda, Fl. I just bought a Royal Duchess a few days ago. The previous owner lived 4 hrs away, so I drove it home. In the dark. In the rain. In 50 degree weather. I found a shop willing to work on it, but they only have one guy familiar with VWs. So, it’s scheduled for next week and they’ll have it for a few days. At $130/hr it won’t be cheap, but worth it. Besides, I’ll use the down time to get some other issues resolved myself. (I’ve been a VDub guy since the ’70s and can do the motor work)

My Lucas fog lights aren’t working. I have power and a good ground to the lights. The bulb shows continuity so should be ok. What am I missing?

I just purchased a Royal Duchess TD replica a few days ago and now it’s sitting at home with a broken clutch cable. Looking under the pan, I don’t see how to get to it. I plan on having it towed and fixed, but will the average shop be able to fix it?
