Brilliant, Roy. Sounds strong, looks great. You will almost certainly win the autoX.For those unfamiliar, I, too, tried my hand at the video machine a couple years back, and got to drive Bridget on the Baltimore Grand Prix track. She was much faster than usual that day.

Very nice, Roy. It sounds good. -

AH, as usual, I don’t know the half of it!Hope your plan works. Had no idea how hard it would be to find bucket seats that would work but I guess it makes sense, given the way American dimensions have expanded over the past 60 years. Hey! Have you tried Moss Motors? The TF seat might be just the ticket. And only $4 million. On a more serious note,…[Read more]

Yeah, get that a lot. Yesterday went to work in Bridget and out for a (work-related) beer. Everyone went nuts. One guy on the street next to the bar engaged me in a 5 minute story about his ’37 Nash he sold for $50,000. “The guy wants $125,000 for it now,” he says. “Didn’t do nothin’ to it.”Two little girls come out as I’m leaving and assert…[Read more]

Happy birthday, Paul! You get out in the TD today?

Not sure why you aren’t in the bone yard pulling seats out of old Honda Civics or Miatas. I think my local pick & pull gets $20 a seat. Maybe $25. Pretty sure you pull them with the track attached. Nothing you can buy in the aftermarket for $250 is going to match them in quality, and even with brand new mail-ordered seats you’re still in for some…[Read more]

Kent, join the Speedsterowners website and go to the classified ad section and ask nicely. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. No guarantee they’ll work though.

Finding an adjustable seat that narrow would be next to impossible. As the kit buckets are just foam cushions on plywood bases, simply build a seat to your specs and mount it in a position that is most comfortable for you. I, personally, took 3″ out of my seat base and moved the seat back rearward about 6″. Shu has a thread on building a truly…[Read more]

The retractoe assembly moves with the buckle. It does not stay at the floor.
It’s different, but it is a retractable belt. -

OK, almost assembled. Have yet to fit the doors. It developed an electrical gremlin while apart that I need to sort out. It may be all the still disconnected wire ends. The retractable seat belts discussed in another thread are installed. They work strange. You’ll have to see them at Carlisle. If everything works out easy enough, I have visions of…[Read more]

Gabor: one more thing I forgot: The top of the dash is radiused (if that’s the word for it?). The front face of the dash is just a little bit bigger than the back face of the dash, and the angle of the top edge, as it compares to the front face, is less than 90 degrees. More like 75 or so. So when you install it on the scuttle, there’s a sort of…[Read more]

Welcome, Tatcat. Good luck on the wiring. I hope you’ll post some tutorials on it, as wiring seems to be something of a bugbear in the replica community.

That looks like it might work as the top bead, maybe if the short leg is cut and the end bent over. Lotta work.I will again suggest my cheat: $14 stick-on 1/8-inch chrome strip from Auto Barn and aluminum tape stuck to the top edge which will be mostly hidden by the welting. This took 10 minutes to do & I doubt anyone I don’t tell would notice…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Dash: Flush or proud? in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 12 years, 5 months ago
On the originals, it’s actually a bit proud of the scuttle, by my eye. The wood is about half-inch thick ply and the rexine cover adds a sixteenth more. The back is recessed just slightly because of the way the scuttles are formed, and that tends to push the welt forward just slightly. But the difference is hardly noticable.Indeed, I never…[Read more]
