Somebody lays a late ’70’s Z28 hood scoop on your MG and you stand back and say “…you know, if…”It’s how things happen.

Gabor: I think the plate hangs in a spot where there’s kind of a vacuum bubble anyway. Not that there won’t be some wind action and vibration, but “sail” is not quite what you’re making here. Most of the replicas have something similar, and it doesn’t seem to be a common thing to get big cracks. A couple big fender washers on the inside of your…[Read more]

Every Carlisle for the last 5 years I have looked for a model of the TD and have never seen one. Lots of sellers there w/ the TC’s and the like, but never TD’s. Hope to find one this year.

Squeaks, grinds fiberglass and/or paint away. The is especially true in places like the hood-to-cowl area, since the hood is on kinda “loose” with hinges and a latch or two. At the fender-to-body joint it’s probably fine, since they’re joined tight. The welting does look correct, though, as it matches what’s on TDs. Whether it looks good or not is…[Read more]

Roy, I had no idea you made that dash yourself! Welcome to the I-made-my-dashboard-myself club.

You can just barely make out the bracket in the first post in ” Gone and Done It”. The weight and vibration of the plate caused stress cracks in the side panel it’s mounted to, so I placed a support leg on the outer corner of the plate to the fender to keep it rigid.

I’ve been looking for the one I took off mine. Can’t find it and can’t finish the back end until I do.

Very cool, Roy.The dash is much more TC-ish but the tank and bumpers are TD all the way. Neet car.

A busy day…we’re showing some progress. both my wife and my son said that “…its looking like a car again…
I had never ran welting between the front side panels and the main body tub. I tried it, I like it. I think it makes for a finished look. The original build instructions never called for it. At this point I only have the hood portion of…[Read more]

Wow, very impressive, Roy. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten my engine over 5500 and don’t expect to try it. Great to hear that a SP head motor will respond to more fuel. Hardly anyone uses them anymore besides you and me.

Really man’s the thing up, eh?Those .50s? Or 20mm ack acks?Either way, I would not consider braving LA–or NYC–roads without DU ammo. Too many armored SUVs out there with “diplomatic immunity!”EDIT: Welcome NSA bots! As you can see, we are joking.

Dick,
Sure you need a inspection? In VA w/ a vintage tag it is not required – I did not know that till the last minute and was informed.Dale -
