Love the tool kit. Working on one for Bridget, but won’t be nearly as slick. Nice work on all of it, Court. Looks like you’re right on schedule too with the build. Very impressive.

That’s on a 1961 chassis. Swing axle. 1200 cc motor too. Two people have asked about driving it out of state and the owner is suggesting no.

Love those old Falcons. Sister to my Nova. Not really much safer than the MG, but feels like it is. Plus there’s a trunk and back seats to wedge the surf boards in. Cruise on!

Good luck, Greg. Sorry to see you’re selling the car. It’s a beauty. Make sure to tell the new owner about the forum.

Nice job on the column. Looks like it took some doing. I like the turn signal too–is that it on the dash, to the left of the wheel?

Thanks, folks. I guess I’ll order the kit today. Put $15 in the tank yesterday (probably not a smart move) but I have two empty 6 gallon boat tanks I can strain the gas in and out of when the time comes. Dan, thanks: I just happen to have a yard full of jagged little landscape rocks. They should work better than drywall screws. Now to find out if…[Read more]

Ed,
I did the JC Whitney one – worked good – still driving 3 years later – no
problem. They have two types – I used the cheaper one.

Yup. I bought two filters yesterday. One will live under the passenger seat until needed. Also thinking hard about doing the tank liner thing.I wonder if anyone here has tried any of thesehttp://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm http://www.jcwhitney.com/liquid-fuel-tank-liner-kits/p200079 5.jcwx

That thing is looking kewl. What did you do to the steering column? Is that just a stripped Chevette column? Or is there more to it than that?

I’ll ditto Paul. If building a car is your bliss, then by all means go for it. But realize that a half-finished kit will require a special kind of buyer. He won’t likely sell it too fast and won’t see bids above asking. For the money you’d be looking at here (say about $5,000 all said and done) I’d be trying to find a finished car. The Chevette…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic shifter bushing help in the forum General Discussion 16 years ago
Thanks, Mark. It looks straight, but I’ll put a level on it when I get home.
The shifter gets all the gears easily when the car is off, or idling and not moving. The problem comes only when it’s rolling along at, say, 15 mph and heading toward the hill. I’m thinking second gear would go nice right about now, but the transmission doesn’t want to…[Read more] -

Thanks, Richard. I’m going to hold off for now. Driving her around the other day I quickly got the hang of second gear. Takes a little technique, but only a little, and I think soon enough it will become second nature. If not, I’ll probably go to a rebuilt, maybe with a taller 4th gear.

I hadn’t noticed that. looks like that wheel is parked in a gutter. You can see in the pics there’s a channel running down that pavement. I think that’s what’s giving the extra space above the passenger rear tire.
