Decided to mod my spare tire carrier to accommodate the knock-off wire spare. It was easy enough that when I was done I decided to complicate it.

You might also begin to pull wires from the fuse panel one at a time while it’s making the noise. Once the noise disappears you’ve identified the circuit that it’s on.

If there’s no smell/smoke it’s probably good…

Good on ya, Jack. No new news on the fender stretch since the last update. I’m pretty confident I’ve got this in hand though (finger’s crossed). Hope to get a little more done this week, between Christmas shopping/wrapping/delivering goodies & etc. Will update again if I do.

Are the VDO sender units different from the VW ones? I have a new VW sender unit that I put in with the new tank but the gauge is not working. So I guess the real questions is, if I replace the VW sender with a 10-180 ohm unit, might that solve my gauge problem?

Jes, I think we’d all love to see photos of your handiwork. It sounds fantastic, and I bet a lot of us would love to rock an Airline Coupe style TD.

But we’re all pretty much cheapskates.

I say post what you have and try making the sale from there. You never know what will catch some guy’s fancy.

Hmmm. Thinking about it more, this may be in contention.

Gonna rattle can them, I think. Duplicolor makes a match for about $10-$15 a can. Probably take 4 cans.

If I find a really nice, not too-expensive paint sprayer (SATA, say) before mid-spring I may shift focus.
