Wow,, this is a good one.  first, is the  gasket wright ? did you try it with out the gasket , I did the head on mine this fall I put it all back together off the block , that made it a lot easier to do the intake . if you used the same manifold , i don’t see why it would not just bolt up!..  Dan R

 Well ,, I still have some Witworth tools!!! from my first car, a 1950 Hillman ,,the threds were diffrent on the bolts . i’ll have to look for them in the barn,,, if rembember the spaner heads would fit US standard. I don’t think I have seen them in  45—50

Allen, I have the same set on my Chevette powered TD . KPH Vs MPH if you rembember we the U.S. was to change to all metric by year 2000 . I guess it never will happen by then   Dan R

Weber makes a bug scatt set up for 1600 VW ,,,check on line about $200.00 carb. only ..32/36 progressive I have one on my 1.4 chevette with a 1.6 intake and it works good, starts easy, and runs great I’m not sure what a manifold costs for a VW. Dan R

I think it is worth it in most cars,,  custom fiberglass built cars that i have been in, all seem to need it ,not just VW built …   Dan

$.02 Worth if you need power brakes on a 2000 pound car maybe you should not be driving or you need to be exercising more??? if all parts are working service brakes work just fine . Kinda like power steering ,,have we all got week or lazy ?? I have had many cars and trucks with power nothing ..cars in the old days not even an option ,,,,Dan

I always liked piping, it will set off the look ,,and bring a little class to a plain looking interior ., but it will be some work but well worth it ,, many if not most all optional interiors  use piping.   Dan
