  • Paul my thought is to make a similar “Tire Step” design, using 1/2″ Steel Tube Electrical Conduit, and stain the wooden slats for the fold down base, to match my dash and steering wheel. I do not like drilling holes in my cars Fiberglass, so my design will hang on the tire, like the Tire Step. I should have a rough design by mid week. Dave

  • Steve what a creative, thoughtful, and functional home made Luggage Rack. I hope you did not patenet your idea, as I plan on using your plans, and modifying them to fit my VW powered Classic Roadster. My engine cover folds back, with the tire still attached. • MG Magic sells what they call slightly blemished bumpers as “seconds”. I bought one earlier this Spring. They charged me less then $100, plus shipping. They only have them so very often, but it is worth the question to them. I had to look very hard to see the blemish on the one I got, and some quality rubbing compound, helped to clear it up.Just a…[Read more]

  • There should be a wiring schematic in the manual down loads. I used several different colored fine tip felt marking pens. I just traced the colored marked wires on the diagrams, and WOW it all made sense where each wire went to each gauge, or light fixture. I had the whole dash wired is less then 2 hours. Then I marked each wire with a number on…[Read more]

  • My VW mechanic says it would help if I installed a “fire wall tin” to seal off my VW engine compartment, as it would give me cooler air for my engine fan. I looked for a past topic about sealing off the engine from the fiber glass body, but I could not find any. Can any one give me some feed back on this topic. Thanks for your help.DaveLakeland, Fl

  • Ok so here is what I am doing for a new top. I contacted one of the local fabric stores, and asked who they knew that could give me sewing lessons. I found a lady who for $15 per hr. • I agree with Billnparts. I have a fiberglass boat that I have painted, so I am going to paint my car as well. I plan on using a very thin nap roller, and then “tipping” over with a good quality edging brush. You can very easily use narrow wide masking tape, to tape off the welting. I will probably spend less the $200 with using two quarts of a…[Read more]
