Remember when tires had inner tubes? Well, I have a large one on hand and am planning cutting it up and seeing about making a better seal in/for Migi. Before the show in Virginia Beach.

Ed, surely you know that these aren’t really problems…..only challenges. Something to have fun with and keep us out of the bars. 🙂

Allen, if you search “door locks” you will find a bunch of posts from a few years ago that address a sure fire way to keep your doors closed and allow you to sleep better.

“a bit of an expert on rebuilding carburetors”?? Hardly! (It’s all sleight of hand.)

Royal replied to the topic Battery Cable Length in the forum VW Based Kits 9 years, 4 months ago
IMHO #6 AWG is too small.
I would not be comfortable with smaller wire than gauge 1/0. There are a lot of variables which go into determining the right size, I planned for 150 amp starter draw (cold morning tough start condition) and 10 ft total wire (positive + negative).

Vicenc, didn’t we talk about this once when we first met at Carlisle? I believe that your top bows are not mounted where most/many are. This can be somewhat compensated for by adjusting the length of the bows. You might do well to examine closely some of the other Fiberfab member’s bow installations. (The tubing that typically is used for the…[Read more]

Royal replied to the topic Defective Condenser in the forum VW Based Kits 9 years, 4 months ago
Allen, I apologize but your post about testing the condenser is simply wrong.
A condenser can not and should not be thought of as a diode. A condenser will “charge” up when a voltage is applied across it, as current is stored in the condenser. To test a condenser (automotive) you can apply voltage either way and this is most easily done with a…[Read more]

Vicenc, I think that you will be happiest if you have one made. Jack tried fitting my Daytona Migi tonneau to his BCW and his Fiberfab. —- Not even close!
You should, first, decide what you want it to do for you. I, whenever top down cruising, always have my tonneau installed, even if only covering the storage shelf behind the seat…[Read more]

Vicenc, What a great idea. I wish I could, but I regret that I will not be able to attend. Thanks for the invite, I appreciate the invite.
I still am planning on seeing many of you this fall in Virginia Beach at the Air & Auto Show.
I’m trying to decide whether to drive my TDr or my Classic Mini to the show. My Mini is nice and a lot of fu…[Read more]

Today’s Mini Cooper has nothing in common with the Austin 7 (aka Austin Morris Mini) of 1959-1999 other than the name. While the original classic Mini was almost unchanged for it’s 40 years of production by various British companies (Austin, Morris, British Leyland, BMC, and Rover..and I probably forgot a few) today’s Mini (BMW), while a fine…[Read more]

Bill, that looks like a nice smooth run. eh? Unless my memory has totally left me, it looks like this run up Pagoda is up the back way. Looks like there are fewer twisties allowing you to get up to a higher speed. ????
Thanks..

Hey Stephen, Great job. I’ve got a super simple editing job for you to correct when it’s a rainy day. On our home page, you list manufacturers at the top. In the list is MiGi. To my knowledge, there never was a MiGi manufacturer, rather the name MiGi was used first by Daytona and later by Fiberfab when MG took exception to our replicas.
I sug…[Read more]

Have fun guys. Wish I could be there. Safety Fast!
Schu: It’s easy if you have a decent machine and gas and get someone else to set the MIG amps and speed up for you. I beat myself up trying the gas-less flux cored wire. My welds were weak and ugly – an embarrassment. Now, with CO2, I’m almost proud of them.

Vicenc, if you can get Ed’s experienced advice on removing the small leaves from your torsion beam assembly, you will be amazed at the result. Your ride will be much smoother and more comfortable and controllable. It’s the right fix.

Drive around the block and try stopping with only your emergency/parking brake. …will help you sort out the front/rear question. I installed discs on my TD with no proportioning valve. Everything works great.

I run 10-30. If my oil press drops, I know it is time to clean the engine or change to 20-50 or both.
