  • About 4 years ago, my wife had finally “had it”. My garage is attached to the house and my old oil-less smaller air compressor which shared a wall with the living room had just cycled on. Anyone who had had or heard a so-called oil free air compressor will attest to their loud and incredibly abrasive sound. I had explained to her that belt…[Read more]

  • Looks to be a front engined automatic transmission. What manufacturer of TDr’s has concealed bonnet hinges other than BCW? That convinced me of its heritage. Granted, there are many customizations.

  • Almost definitely a BCW. Nice find.

Hey guys. Thanks for the comments. I got a whopping good deal on some new 1.25’s and decided to go ahead with the experiment. I plan to carefully record before/after data on my measured course (a drag race 1/4 mile type). John from aircooled.net in a private communication thought it was “a waste of time on a single port”. But applying my “the…[Read more]

  • The better (and more) pictures you post, the more information about your TDr you will receive.I can almost guarantee you that we’ll figure it out.

  • John, not sure if this helps with your problems.  But, I really need your advice on a serious problem. I have suspected for
some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. You know, just the usual
signs: The phone rings and when I answer, the caller hangs up. Plus, she goes
out with ???the girls” a lot. I usually try to stay awake to look out…[Read more]

Stuart, If after driving your “arrest me red” TDr around for a while, you still want to do an EV conversion, send me a Private Message.  I can help you source some parts.  I have always (except for now) had bright red sports cars.  Love ’em.

  • On my way home from purchasing a 911s about 25 years ago, my clutch cable broke.  I learned how to shift without a clutch.  But timing stoplights (so you don’t have to stop) remains the tricky part.

  • Kall, You “suspect” accurately.  I once stored a TR6 for the winter under a “blue tarp”.  It went through several windstorms etc.  Ruined the paint job.

  • Kent, I tried to fit dual carbs under my engine cover a couple of years ago. Simply won’t go under a Daytona cover which is about 1-1/2″ too narrow for the most compact rig I could find. That’s why I decided to go Bug Spray. Thought about progressives, but everyone has them (what’s the fun there?). And I got a good deal on three manifolds and…[Read more]

  • Thanks from the boys at VW Lab, Kent. But we knew that Ed’s manifold would not work with Bug Sprays. We are hoping to find a Zenith carb and/or a Weber progressive to allow us to allow us to experiment and test Ed’s manifold with. The SP manifold that we started out with here at VW Lab was a plenum type that we modified to become an isolated…[Read more]

  • We used an old Bug Spray single port manifold that I had lying around.  It had no heat risers and I was a bit concerned about carb icing.  With the adaptation of the single port manifold (which we cut) to the dual port intake end pieces with the rubber boots and the upgrade to an alternator, there simply wasn’t enough space to put exhaust m…[Read more]

  • Warning! Do not try this at home. This modification upgrade (?) Was performed by untrained reckless amateurs with too much time on their hands. (Not to mention – too much coffee.)”Have Holley – Will travel.” (Paladin. Protector of the weak.)Royal2016-01-09 03:07:44

  • It really is a question that only you can answer. But, were it me, I’d steer clear of the Mustang. I drive my cars and hate (as in HATE) rust which is inevitable on the Ford as well as the Porsche [:-)]! And if you don’t think Porsche parts and repair are costly, make a few phone calls and ask how much to tune up a Boxster. Read and re-read…[Read more]

Both Daytona and London Roadster have shorter grills. I can’t tell that this grill is or is not short.

  • This was going to be a “winter project”, but winter just started and we’re (except for some minor tweaking) done.  We built his engine better than mine……. Damn it!  (I should have pocketed one of the cam followers.)NOW WHAT?

  • Royal replied to the topic TDr Rod in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 11 months ago

Don’t forget that Daytona’s and FF’s were made in Holly Hill Florida plants that were separated by about 100yds, and Daytona coined the Migi name which FF “stole”. Daytona and early FF’s are very nearly identical. (So, it might well be an early FF.) Royal2015-12-31 21:53:01

    Yep!

  • Royal replied to the topic TDr Rod in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 11 months ago

The windshield, molded grill, hood hinges on the passenger side, bench seat, headlight mount and dash layout (compleat with a barn door grab bar) make it look like a bare bones Daytona Migi was the father. Obviously, the result a one night stand which did alright for itself after starting so far back in the pack.I kinda like it. :-)…[Read more]

  • Kent, very beautiful! Only a true kindred spirit truly understands our need for our garage/man caves. Like Ed’s extensive garage remodel last year, your start from scratch project has almost coaxed me into emptying my garage and starting over on my 2-1/2 car mess that draws daily complaints from my wife since all our neighbors and friends could…[Read more]
