Thanks for the tip, Schu. I’ll call Clint. Psyched to see Rick again. He’s a trip.

Booked the Oceanfront Inn. Rate on the hotel website for a room with two full beds was $149, so all in it was like $343 for two nights. I looked at the Hilton Garden and it was $230 per night.
Let me know if you want to double-up.

Ah dang. Roy man, We miss you. God bless and hope your troubles are temporary.

Was just thinking it’s time to book the room. I like the place because of the garage parking but if something just as nice came about for less money I’d jump. Schu are you researching?

Great report, Bill! Glad to see you avoided any critical incidents and got up that hill with more speed. Amazing that she’s running 7/8 and you didn’t notice. My suggestion: FE block; 428ci. More is more!

Welcome! I met one of the Fusseneggers a few years ago at the Pittsburg Grand Prix. The famly still has a fiberglass parts business called Smoothline. The man did not recall how many BCWs they made. I think he said it was way fewer than 200, though he did say a lot went overseas.

That second link (above) is the bomb! Thanks Paul.
“Picnic Mode!” Brilliant.
Man I gotta look into that…

If these are VW pan cars there’s not too much that can be done. I don’t think VW bucket seats will work without modification, because the seat placement on a TD replica is about where the back seats on the bug were. The way the pan and the tunnel are shaped, you don’t have the width to put the stock bucket there.
The fiberglass bulkhead that…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Considering new radiator for heat issues in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 5 years, 11 months ago
For my Subaru swap I used an aftermarket radiator designed to fit a 1992-2000 Honda Civic, similar to this. It fits nice behind the grill and was easy to make mounts for. The larger of the two original Subaru Legacy fans also fit nicely over it.
The rad was made for a 1.6l engine but the Subaru engine is 2.2 and it cools very well. If I had a…[Read more]

Update on the Spyder build, for any interested.
The hood closes, the battery is in, and the fuel tank (which is very special) is coming in for a landing.
I continue to make slow progress on most days. Thank you for your support in this difficult time.

The weather this year could not be beat. But the timing system… Lots of guys wanted to beat the guys that set that up, I was told.

edward ericson replied to the topic steering column in the forum General Discussion 6 years ago
That is a truly good question. Wish I knew the answer. No one has yet uploaded an assembly manual for a Chevette-based kit. I doubt anyone here ever knew Chevettes came with more than one length of steering column…
Speaking on general principle I’d get the “standard” length or the longest available, since it’s easier to cut one down if…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Vintage Brand Tachometer in the forum VW Parts Wanted 6 years, 1 month ago
Mine was supposed to have an adaptor and didn’t. When it read 40 you were doing about 55, something I didn’t discover until about four or five months after I started driving her. That was a big part of the reason I went with all new gauges and build the dash around a ’73 Bug speedometer.

edward ericson replied to the topic Vintage Brand Tachometer in the forum VW Parts Wanted 6 years, 1 month ago
Bouncing speedometer is usually the cable. Unscrew it from the back of the gauge and drip a couple drops of oil down in the cable sheath, see if that hurts it.
If that works, buy a new cable (VW Bus length seems to work best in our cars) and stand by; next time it starts snagging like that, just change it out.
Gauges generally, though: Yeah, you…[Read more]
