That picture of the two of you in the car together is awesome. The look on his face is just precious. The two of you will have a lot of happy memories with that car.
Congrats on the progress.
P.S. Love the vintage amplifier in your garage, wish I still had mine. 😀

Thanks for all the information. I did find “4Jx15″ stamped on the rim. I guess that means it’s a 4” rim and the 205s are way to wide for them.

My TDR is a Duchess built on a 70 VW donor. It has 165R15s on the back and 205/60R15s on the front. The front tires are totally cracked and need to be replaced. I assume the front rims are a different size than the back since the tires are a lot wider. Is there an easy way to check the rim width? Done a bunch of google searches but have not found…[Read more]

After a busy summer with other priorities I was finally able to address the bad wheel bearing on the Duchess. Did lots of research and found several excellent write-ups on TheSamba.com and elsewhere. I got the car jacked up and secured, removed the axle and was on my way. The first think I noticed was that the axle nut was only hand tight. Having…[Read more]

Have you tried removing the idle jet and blowing it out with compressed air? Easy to do without digging into the carb.

I sent him a message a while back looking for a replacement eagle ornament for the front fuel cap. Unfortunately he did not have one. Would be interesting to see what else he has.Greg

Yesterday I did my first tune up on the Duchess.Adjusted the valves, not hard all after reading the directions a few dozen times. They were all tight, I assume the shop adjusted them to .004, but could not verify as I do not have a .004 feeler gauge. Found the oil leak, one valve cover gasket had not seated well and was pinched at the…[Read more]

Thank you all for the warm welcome.I did buy a replacement fuel filter to put before the engine compartment. Based on the comments I will make it a priority to get it installed. I went out last night and bought a copy of John Muir’s book. I am committed now.Greg
