…the  PO reinforced the attachment point so it does not stress the hood  — and the gas spring has “just the right amount of spring” to keep the hood open yet allow it to be closed easily.  And once the gas spring is fully retracted, it places the stress perpendicular to the hinges and latches.

And in my case with the BCW, there is a typical ho…

    One more option —

The PO of my BCW fiberglassed a bracket to the hood and added a gas spring to hold the hood open  …

    Hey Folks —

Now that I have Emma back from the welding shop (I’ll post pics on rust issues once I get some “after” pictures to go along with the “before” shots) I just registered for Rock Star parking and the Oceanfront Inn w/breakfast for Fri. and Sat night….
…so now we are just waiting on Roy to “get-r-done,” Shu to get registered for the…

  • Time for TEA!!

Well yesterday I got my new replacement tea pot — Billnparts gets a silver star for finding a replacement — his wife gets a gold star for making it happen…!!!
old, very dented and JB-welded one on the left vs. unblemished New Old Stock kettle on the right
…and since it was at least 1/2 my fault for laying the “old” pot on the…

    Hey Ed,

I assume that a knob goes on top of the shaft???  And that the knob presses down to unlock reverse???
Other than not having the 3 – 4 bias, how does this shifter compare to my shifter in Emma?  (an EMPI short,  Trigger shifter)?
I’m sorry we ran out of time at Carlisle and I did not get to try driving your TD — maybe when we get to Va Be…

  • I hope the frame head and the Napoleon hat are in tact and the problem is just with the frame head bottom plate and a little rust on the floor pan edges.  I’ll know more once I get the bottom plate off and get a closer look.  Also, Royal is home from his crusade to the mountains of New York so I should be able to get him to put a second set of e…[Read more]

  • Hey Ed,

After all the talk of rust, I decided to put the Tdr on jack stands and crawl under to take a close look — Guess what I found?  RUST…….
The Frame Head bottom plate had an old Tee shirt stuffed into it to hide the hole — and the tunnel edges of the floor pans are rusted out in just a few spots.
The worst is the frame head bottom plate…

  • Yea, I guess I’ll have to drop my whining about it being such a rare and impossible to find tea pot……..

But speaking of Wobby, I set up a little diorama (or gag-a-rama according to some folks…..) to highlight the repaired tea kettle.  Some say it is “T” for TERRIFIC — some say “T” for Tacky…you be the judge:
Da ya think that the gloves,…

  • Hey folks,

Up until now, the whole “TEAPOT SAGA” has remained quietly in the background — so mainly the TDr  people who were at Carlisle know the story — one that BillNparts should be allowed to tell….
But since the word is (partially) out, here is a picture of the “Phoenix out of the ashes” teapot after a bout with a ball peen hammer and some…

  • I followed Ed’s step-by-step and it worked out quite well.  I used my Dremel Tool with a cut-off wheel to remove the e-brake mechanism as well as to cut the slightly smaller hole for the mechanism at the new location.  I just used sheet metal screws to mount the e-brake in its new position.  I did make a cover plate and fire extinguisher holder as…[Read more]

  • Hey folks,

Anyone else try to straighten out a Carlisle Events car windshield sticker ?????
I found it does not pay to be A/R (as in anal retentive) when it comes to trying to get that pesky sticker to come off when it starts to go onto the windshield a little crooked…..

  • Hey folks,

I guess I was not very clear in my initial post…my issue is actually lack of confidence in handling this TDr with its extra horsepower —
Part of my tire issue is that even though I’ve owned Emma for a couple of years, I have done little on her other than get her mechanically sound (fix carbs, fix sand seal, keep the oil in the…
