  • To make things easier, here is what’s left after the previous three posters:

Photo 3:  Two (2) headlight lenses with bulbs from MG Magic (briefly installed on the car but never used – essentially new condition).  $10 for both.

Photos 5, 6, and 7:  Mayfair 2412 blower, 4.5 Amp.  This was originally connected to ductwork in my dash for use as a…[Read more]

  • The following parts are left over from my TD Replica project and must go.  Some items are new or almost new, others are old; but everything is “as-is only” and “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) with no guarantees.  I have suggested prices but I am amenable to offers, as “everything must go.”  Price isn’t important — all I want to get out…[Read more]

  • Wow, I saw the title, “Cruises in the Midatlantic” and pictured something entirely different …

  • The car museum is in the Linq, which used to be the Imperial Palace. The cars there are for sale if you have enough $$$.

  • Bill, if you absolutely must sell your car — you might want to try listing it with Hemmings Motor News as an alternative to a real TD.  At the price you are asking (you are entirely too reasonable) you might attract someone who otherwise would buy a real TD but is scared of the British car maintenance/repair issue.  You also might try eBay.  …[Read more]

In the interest of group harmony and keeping things on track, I have deleted the response that I had posted here.  My apologies.

I can’t really understand why people bother to blank out their license plate when posting photos on the Internet. Everywhere you drive or park, people see the actual letters and numbers. There are a lot more people seeing the actual plate than would ever see it on the Internet. If the numbers can somehow be used at all, the risk seems a lot…[Read more]

Is 275-285 degrees normal? I drove my car 25 miles in stop-and-go city streets today in 100 degree temps (that’s Vegas for you). My shirt got soaked but my engine oil temp gauge never showed over 210, and the engine is just sitting there with a stock tin full of various open holes and nothing to keep the hot exhaust out of the engine…[Read more]

Well, picked up my car today (again).  We lowered the front pressure down to 20 psi and with that and all the brake work, the brakes are much improved for stopping.  The squealing was totally eliminated for the first 20 miles of stop-and-go driving.  I mean, dead silent, I was loving it.  Just in the last five miles before I got home, however, I s…[Read more]

Allen – You “spent hours grinding and filing to get all the pieces to fit”?  Not being unsympathetic here, but I haven’t encountered anything on my car yet that didn’t require “hours grinding and filing to get all the pieces to fit.”

On a more serious note, thank you for your post.  At one time I foolishly thought that maybe I would like to ha…

Update:  Have now been advised that a good part of my problem was that the passenger rear drum wasn’t attached properly and was loose.  I believe that, because my wife had noticed that particular wheel wiggling back and forth while following me to the shop.  This problem was yet another relic of the previous idiot mechanic.  The new guy also sai…[Read more]

If you’re stuck driving in the rain, you’ll appreciate the discs.”

I live in Vegas.  LOL.  If rain is remotely in the forecast, I’m not going out.  And if I totally misjudge the situation, I’m already screwed because I don’t have any side curtains or any way of adding them.
I’ve long since come to the conclusion that I wasted my time and money pu…

  • It’s really scary the first time you start removing body parts, even when they are just body parts on your car.  This is my procedure.

First thing you do is put tape or a towel or something else in the crack/gap between the gas tank and the hinge nearest the firewall.  You wouldn’t think it would be so easy for stuff to fall into that gap, but t…

  • If it’s like my FiberFab, you can take off the hood and grill pretty easily.  Once you’re there, it looks like you have the fiberglass insert that newkitman is referring to.  Once the hood and grill are off, you would simply remove the entire insert and that would give you the access you need.  I wouldn’t lie, it would be some time and work, an…[Read more]

  • Other than loosening the rears a little so they don’t touch the drums when not applied, I think the main issue is to somehow reduce the hardness of the pedal so it isn’t just on-off. The tires are new (since Nov. 2014 anyway) and have low pressure. Dunno about the stiffness of the narrowed front axle beam, but the car rides and steers fine, at…[Read more]

  • I found a new mechanic who was able to fix my engine, and now it purrs very nicely.  Upon driving home, however, I noticed a new issue … or at least one that I had overlooked up to now.

My original so-called “professional” mechanic (who screwed up everything else) also put on the EMPI front disc brakes.  Supposedly it also got a new master c…

  • I may have the problem solved.  The upholsterer who abandoned me and my car and took my money did start on a top before all that happened.  So, I have a shell of a top that has the top and front seams in it, a window, and a basic shape.  What it needs is to have someone seam the side edges and put some kind of canvas edging on the bottom that ca…[Read more]
