  • Check with SEMA to see if there is any action being taken on the new laws.We are lucky here in N.H.,no titles after 15 years, although now we are allowed to title antiques 26 years old and older. Also,to register we are supposed to use the year the car most resembles.I have a lot of Model A Fords, and out of state buyers are always looking for an…[Read more]

  • Royse, the brackets are not VW,and the bumpers are not either.VW bumpers are much more curved. They will hit the tires in the front and the fenders in the rear.MG Magic has all of it,I just bought rear brackets for a car I am finishing. It is pretty hard to not cannibilize the unbuilt one I have.It may happen yet,as since I advertised it I have…[Read more]

  • Unless you can find a trim shop close to you that can do it reasonably, you are going to have to buy a top and side curtain assembly. There were a lot of different tops built and side curtains are not available separately.I hear people talk about going to boat shops, but it does not work here. The LOW rate I have found here is $60.per hour.Shops here…[Read more]

  • Click onto the links page on this site and call MG Magic. No website.I tried to buy a couple of carpet sets a few weeks ago and found he is no longer making them.He did say he had some kits in stock in burgundy and red.The upholstery is still listed but call and find out what is available. If you open your hood and look at the firewall on the…[Read more]

  • After a few years of looking around I have found they are the only place to get anything bodywise. There are hundreds of places to get the VW parts. He had some front bumper seconds awhile back,I got a couple of them,if you need a top you ought to get it now,he is not sure how long he is going to be making them.I found boat canvas shops talk a good…[Read more]

  • I have three of these cars, and in one of them The gas tank just would not fit the liner. It must have been pulled from the mold too soon or something I monkeyed with it for weeks off and on,I just gave up and mounted the tank without the liner. The original VW did not have a liner, the only drawback I can see is that if the tank was to leak it might…[Read more]

  • I am still looking, and I have seen it done on cars.I kind of thought at the time it was part of the kit.I have seen the E-brake moved to the rear of the shifter too.The hardest part about that is dealing with the cables.

  • I took out all of the half leafs.I have been busy this summer with rebuilding a house to sell, and have hardly driven the car.I did drive it to our camp, about 35 miles away and truthfully could not tell the difference. But,that is only because I drive so many different things and just would not remember after the winter.I bet if I drove it this…[Read more]

  • Mr.Bill,I was just poking around on the Samba site and found another dealer for the hyd.pedel setup. It is Mooreparts.com. They have the same setup I have, only theirs is $50.cheaper.You can see from the picture how it works, the master for both brake and clutch are mounted on the base.It is available with or without the throttle pedel. You can bolt…[Read more]

  • What you need to do with the torsion leafs is to cut short pieces and tack them on to the long leaves you are going to use.I made them about four inches long. They will act as a dummy leaf and take up the space so the grub screw will work properly. You will have to cut some short peices for the outboard ends also.I figured out what had to be…[Read more]

  • I have one of these cars with the VW pedels, and one with a Neal hydraulic setup. That just bolts to the floor with 6 bolts and can be put wherever you want it.It works nice. The hydraulic clutch is real smooth. The complete setup can be bought from the dune buggy boys, but I found a complete setup on ebay.Look at some of the vendors on the Samba…[Read more]

  • I looked in Moss Motors for the emblems to mount in my cap centers.I just can”t seem to find them.I scouted around the website but did not see them listed anywhere.I know they have them, others have bought them.Maybe I just have to get myself back into British thinking mode,as in if you need a tailight part look in the radio section of the parts book.

  • You have to undo the snaps at the rear first. Then insert the leading edge into the groove in the top of the W/S frame.I don”t know anybody strong enough to just stick the leading edge into the groove without undoing the snaps first.Don”t be surprised if you find that the top has just shrunk too much to be used anymore.I have one that the top was…[Read more]

  • A real TD has the wipers on the top of the windshield, and the reps have the wipers in the cowl. That was the only giveaway for me.

  • And,I have copies of the FibreFab VW wiring harness although I doubt there is any real difference from it and the Classic Roadster Paul is talking about. One thing to add about any other than the correct harness for your car is that you have to run ground wires for everything. They all rely on the steel body to ground the components.

  • I would probably modify a painless wiring harness./the original harness is not equiped to run guages. The correct harness is available from MG Magic but it is a little pricey.Somewhere around $500.Then again,a couple hundred for a harness to modify,a bunch of work,it might not seem so high when you can just match the codes on the wires to the…[Read more]

  • The only one I can be sure about is the Fibrefab. If you open the hood and look at the firewall on the pass.side there will be the F/F logo.around it will be a serial #.You can stand by the car with a cordless phone and call MG Magic in Fla.and he will tell you what to look for.He also has the parts. His # is,954-680-2010.There is NO website.

  • The plate at the base of the shifter could be out of adjustment. It only takes a tiny bit to be off. Post on the Samba website, there are a lot of very helpful guys there that know these cars inside and out.The old book by John Muir,How to repair your Volkswagen for the compleat idiot is pretty good. The Bently manuel though goes into real…[Read more]

  • I have located a glass grille shell for the car,so I may sell it without the original one.I really had no idea what to ask so I was trying to find out.I bought one of these cars running and driving for $2400.and another complete one that had sat out since 1983 for $700.I had to take both apart and reassemble a little better. The only real expense…[Read more]

  • I probably would sell it for that without the grille shell.A local TD guy will give me $1000.for the new shell. He said while it may sound like a lot he has been looking for the right one for over two years. To correctly repair and replate his brass one he is looking at $1500.He would rather give me $1000.for my new-in-box brass one.He now has…[Read more]
