If you’re going to do thermal transfer instead of silk screen (more durable, but much more expensive), you guys may want to consider a “club” store at Cafe Press:
They print on demand, handle all the ordering, payment, shipping, etc. The design could also be added to coffee mugs, mouse pads, and all kinds of stuff…Is… -

You can get universal “O-shaped” seals that are hollow in the center, in a variety of thicknesses. On my old FF ki… -

I have no idea how many steering boxes I’ve adjusted over the years. It’s not difficult, but it can take a little while to get it right. As tight as possible without binding. It definitely needs to be done with both front wheels off the ground, so the front tires turn easily. Adjust a bit, try the steering wheel, crank it from lock to lock, r…[Read more]

GR2s should be plenty stiff enough for a VW-based TDr front. In fact, many people caution against using gas-charged shocks of any type on the front, because of stiffness.Your air pressure in the front should be around 14-16 PSI for the best ride. 24-26 PSI in the rear. The front steering gear backlash is adjustable to remove some sloppiness in…[Read more]

Yes, please clarify which specific leaves you removed from each torsion bar stack.
What air pressure are you running in your front tires? What type of front shocks are you running? It’s easy to add stiffer shocks to the front, but they’d also make the ride a bit firmer/harsher…Adding weight is a last resort… -

If you guys are interested, I’d be glad to coordinate such a get together, since I’m local. Perhaps in conjunction with Circle Yer Wagens show or something. Those are 5-6 miles away, twice a year:
Or, there’s several “Rod Runs” or antique car shows or similar things going on each summer in Pigeon Forge… I’m not sure h… -

Allen, are you sure you need them? As Paul states, the running board is likely dimpled to take up the space already…
Does your build manual reference them? -

Sounds like my luck…
Luckily this last one went together OK with no issues. But, I was once finishing up a build, put the engine back in the car, as was bolting the right intake (of dual carbs) onto the head. (Couldn’t install engine with carbs on it.) Fumbling around, I dropped a nut down the intake. In trying to get it out with a mag… -

Jack,
Those are likely Empi chrome wheels at that price. Be aware that they’re likely made in China and have one (two at most) layers of chrome on them. If you don’t clear coat them or keep them waxed, they WILL rust… it’s only a matter of when and how much…The old-school chrome wheels of our youth, like those made by Appliance, were trip… -

I agree that the sound deadening mats seem VERY expensive for what they are….
Closed-cell foam, such as you see used for yoga mats or sleeping bag pads would work almost as well. That stuff, while still expensive, is much more affordable. For example, you can get half-inch thick rolls from this vendor for $25.45 per square yard, or q… -

As far as color….
Purely my opinion/thoughts, and I debated color a long time. It’s a personal decision!Silver (actually gray) was the original TD wheel color and goes with virtually any color car.Black makes the wheels “disappear” and focuses attention on the hubcaps/trim rings.White seems “Hey, look at me!” — and seems a bit teenage or so… -

I agree Paul, they are the finest of the 356 replicas.
For a while, back in the 70’s at least, you could buy the complete Intermeccanica bodies, completely assembled, wired, etc. ready for installation on your running gear. Modify the VW pan, bolt them on, and then install the seats and carpet, and you were done…Even then, they were… -
