  •  Allen, The MG bumpers are not very strudy. The back bar is a flat piece about 3/8” thick and 1 and 1/2 ” wide that fits out of sight behind the bumper to make the assembly much stronger.. It is needed on both the VW based cars as well as the front engined cars. You don’t absolutely  have to use one  ,but the bumper is mostly for looks wi…[Read more]

  •  It’s Fiber Fab or a CMC. I can’t quite determine if there is a seam/joint in the front splash pan..
The windshield posts have the optional covers at the bottom to give a MG like look to them.
Looks like reasonable price to me,but then I’m not trying to buy it.

  •  Ed, Where do you buy ”fat” cut pile carpet?LOL

  •  Allen, All the trim/piping is the same color as the seats and panels on both of my cars. I think that some of the newer MGs used piping that was a different color but to my knowledge ,the TDs always matched the piping to the rest of the material.
Can’t help with the amount of material needed.

  •  My ‘factory built’ VW based London Roadster has nothing in the area in front of the engine. It came with chrome aftermarket tin.It does not have a thermostat or fan intake baffle ring. The engine cover has an opening under the spare tire, stock VW wheel with wire hubcap. On the LR ,the splash pan and engine cover are one piece so the engine is…[Read more]

  •  I used a tee fitting where  the oil pressure sender  connects to the engine and connected the pressure sender and the temperature sender to the tee. While I may not be getting an actual sump temp,I now know what the normal guage reading is  and therefore I will know if the temp is getting too hot.

  •  Allen, Just like Paul said! I forgot about the back of the seat and the floor and rear panel . Black carpet is what works best in those areas.Embarrassed

  •  Allen, I vote for black carpet.I think it would go well with your color combinition. and if my memory is correct, the MGs all came with black carpet. Don’t know if you are trying to be as authentic as possible or just looking for a well matching interior ,it’s your car ,your choice.
I also prefer to do the side panels and the area behind the s…[Read more]

  •  I second what BDriver said. There is something special about these cars. The people who still remember the days gone by when they courted  in ”a car like that”,as well as the people who realize that cars wern’t always built with the creature comforts that most people now consider necessities., they all are reminded of happier times when they s…[Read more]

  •  Paul, Thanks again for all you do to keep the forum running properly. I know that the spam is a time consuming problem but I also know that you are doing all you can do to clear it off as soon as possible.

  •  Dick, With your special suspension,I’m not sure if they used VW brakes or something from the aftermarket . I searched ATE Brakes on the web and found numerous sources ,so they must still be in business.Gook luck finding the type for your car.You may have to take them off and match something up.

  •  Mike, I asked Mark [Pink MG] about ADDING LEDs to the rear of my TD in addition to the existing lights. He said that the two types would work together with the regular flasher when wired into the same circuit. However , if you REPLACED the front lights with LEDs, I wonder if the effect might be a faster blink like can occur when a bulb has bu…[Read more]

  •  I’M adding additional lights. On the BCW, the spare tire is mounted on a rack made of approx 3/4 diameter round pipe much like the original MG.I plan to mount the LEDs near the top of the rack where it connects to the body of the car. The BCW uses the small MG rear lights with glass lenses.which are small and somewhat dim by today’s standards.…[Read more]

  •  Thats a great looking car!!  I agree with Paul, it’s a Classic Roadster Duchess and I see the firewall tag too. I’d like to see some pictures showing the entire car in one shot.
When you get the bugs out and the weather cools off you will enjoy it even more. Bet you’ll remember that ”first real ride” for a long time.

  •  Thanks Mark, I thought that the LEDs would probably work ok when wired into the existing circuits but wanted to be sure befor I  bought the lights.
Thanks for the Rodworx link. the accessory light #39193 looks like it would serve my purpose.Larry Murphy40759.5706018519

  •  Glad to have you here. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your car.Hope you get it out of the shop soon.

  •  Bill, Thanks for the link to the gauge repair article. The odometer on my London Roadster recently stopped working and having had the same problem on a previous car with a VDO speedometer,I knew what the problem was without pulling the gauge. I managed to get the odometer working but the unit locked up shortly after I sold the car. With the help…[Read more]

  •  Congrats again,Mel. You just keep on gitten it done. Great vidio!!!

  •  Great advice from BDriver. Also be sure to check the grounds. On these fiberglass cars ,each light or other accessary must also have a ground wire connecting to the metal chassis .
