I had high hopes for these pga64. I even did the research that explained why you use the same color bulb as lens color. This didnt make sense to me at 1st as it would seem that a white light would produce more light through a colored lens. The explanation was that with LED a red lens would filter out most of the color but red.

Hi Dave,I have had the 3487 on my car for about a month and it gets a thumbs up here. It has a low mellow tone, tucks underneath nicely and exits the car in the correct TD position.

Ok Ed.. I broke down and ordered two tubes of this stuff. If it makes it through U.S. Customs and gets F.D.A. approval I will post some photos of the results.

Ed,
I like what you said about logical. Even though most people that know me think my TD is cool, I have one now and again ask “why did you buy that”? They will never understand what I see when I look at my car or every car on this site. I mentioned once before in a post that I thought the TD body style was the epitome of what a british roadster… -

You may be right here Paul. Thats why I suggested to take the project to a local shop and let them have a look see. A good shop wont do the job at all if they see a safety issue. I also see those German engineers held true to the bolt diameter to material thickness (14mm in this case) that I told Roy about in an earlier post. You also may note…[Read more]

Roy just an after thought here. Not sure if you have ever removed rear drums on a VW, but they are torqued to well over 200 ft lbs so you will want to break these loose with wheels on the ground noton jack stands.

Roy I think the stud idea may be doable. 10MM is a tad more than 3/8″. You may have to have the backside of the drum spot faced like we talked about in an earlier post because the drum will be rough and possibly not flat in this area. The face on the stud head needs to contact surface area all the way around for strength. This will also keep the…[Read more]

Roy I am sure my beam has not been turned. The grub screws are still at the 45 degree angle and there are no weld or grind marks. Im pretty sure no torsion bars have been removed as it takes my 220lbs jumping on the front bumper to make the springs squat.

Roy I followed your torsion bar removal and successful results. I plan to do the same to mine when I pull my body for new pans. I plan to follow your posts on this when I do mine. I may have to go with an adjustable beam because my car is level with about 3″ of tire to fender clearance and think I may need to bring it back up to ride height. My…[Read more]

The thanks go to Ed on this. I was a total duh on this, maybe because I grew up in an era where most just pumped in 30-32psi all the way around and drove on. The VW specs were the same 18psi in the front and I speculate the replicas are at least 200lbs lighter up front.

Roy, yes it is basically the same as version #2. I just feel for other than for mock up you will need to get a machine shop to to turn and face the new plate concentric and perpendicular to the splines. Also with no boss for the adapter to seat on, the lug bolts are what makes the adapter run true and in balance. That is why I think The bolt…[Read more]
