For someone thinking to adapt TD hub caps to their VW wheels using the VW clips or screw heads, these are a GREAT price:

Nice find Allen.
For teh nipple style cap that they are selling, you have to make sure the three slots that are pre-punched would be hidden behind the MG cap-center

I just noticed mrlmd’s question regarding “three hubcaps, three prices”311-601-151 D will fit the four bolt wheel113-601-151 is for the earlier five bolt wheel and would need the spring clamps that rivet to the wheel (notice the clips/rivets sets come up as recommended accessories)I suspect 131-601-151 A is also for the four bolt wheel. Yes.An original TD hubcap has a smaller diameter than the stock VW hubcap. As you can see, the Prototype Research approach leaves the TD cap sitting on top of the wheel and not over the wheel’s ring.

Thanks newkitman! Those are the ones you need to come close the an original style TD cap. There is another approach. The earlier five bolt VW rims used a set of spring clips to hold the hub caps. They were originally riveted to the wheel. You could use them, on a four bolt wheel. And use reproduction original TD caps.Another TD replica…[Read more]

How the %^(* could they fit tires that are three inches too tall?
And the manager is blowing smoke.
It has nothing to do with the kit car body. VW based TD replicas use stock size VW tires. -

Mark,
It has to be. It’s nothing we admins can control.
But, unless we have someone here that can rebuild the site, we might lose a lot of the pages, like the history, the manuals, the photo galleries.
And I have no idea how much web hosting fees would be elsewhere. -

Hi Folks,I have received some inquiries from members, new and old.Because of our donations last year about this time, and more that came in during the year, we are good to go for the next year.I’m assuming our bill will not change by much for 2011 to 2012.If it does, I may be back. But for now, we’re covered!

Man, the spam is getting worse and worse.
Ya’ll never really see it, but we have always been hit by auto-registration programs that add fictitious members. That is fairly easy to deal with, as there is an admin tool to batch delete members that have never made a post.
But lately, as I’m sure you have noticed, there have been dozens and dozens o…[Read more] -
