Well Allen…I can’t speak for everyone…but…
I run stock VW wheels, painted in the original TD gray (available in rattle cans or paint). I have chrome hubcaps, with no VW or Empi or any other logos. I drilled them out to accept reproduction TD centers.
Of course…you can see them in the pmossberg gallery.

James,I can see your approach working on a unibody car.But we lose a lot of strength when we take the Beetle body off the pan and replace it with fiberglass body panels. Because of that, I strongly recommend welding in replacement steel panels.

A lot of this is Duchess specific. I think I mentioned when we spoke over the weekend that the body was bolted and riveted to the frame.

They are all from the same molds.Most of us say they replicate 1952 TDs

Doubtful. The manufacturers are long gone. So getting a serial number plate form them is not an option. And I doubt MG Magic would have anything like that.
Hopefully somebody with a Fiberfab will chime in, but FM-1876 sure sounds like some sort of serial number.
