Hey Greg…you sure it’s not your driving that’s scary?
When I was a high school senior, there were two convertibles in my class….my 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible and….Iladio Nieves’ 1963 Ford Falcon convertible…red, white top. Nice lookin’ car.Fond memories.

Dude! We don’t discriminate here! 🙂 Heck, we’ve even had a few Gazelle owners.
The Chevy/Ford section exists already.
Go to the main forum page and scroll down. The category is listed under MGTD Kit Cars -

Steve,Unless you were joking, you’re gonna voice a major “duh” when you read the answer.
By Local, Mark meant…wait for it…are you ready?… “local”. Check your yellow pages, local classifieds, whatever to find a local business that does automotive interior work and/or convertible top work.He/she will be able to measure, cut and sew a custom…[Read more]

When you do your road test, bring along a couple spare filters and the tools to change them.It sounds like crud in your gas tank finding it’s way through. Thank goodness for the filters! If it happens a couple times, you may want to pull the tank and have it cleaned.

John,Keep up the good work. I love the one piece flip front end!One concern. I know you had the roll bar done for the car (or maybe welded it up your self, I forget). But…Are there triangulated supports we cannot see in the photos? Or is it a simple hoop, with only the two ends welded to the chassis? If the latter, you really haven’t protected…[Read more]

Steve,
Not so fast….
Adjusting the VW’s valves is really easy. And since it should be done every 3,000 miles or so, it’s a money saver if you learn to do it yourself.

Rick,I hope I didn’t scare you off.On the other hand, I know a guy who has resurrected probably 20 kit cars.I just you to go into this with your eyes open. So…go see it and get us pictures. I agree with Ed. A partially built kit is not going to sell fast. You have time to work through the pros and cons.

Rick,I agree $2,200 is not bad if you want to buy a body and a rebuilt engine. (Although I would want to know rebuilt by who?!)But that is not your goal. You seem intent on completing a nice MG TD reproduction.Given that nice, running TD replicas can be had for $5,000 and often less, I think $2,200 is high and you should offer less.I agree, it is…[Read more]

I agree with Ringo.Besides, you might as well start with the easy stuff first. Adjust the valves. Then check/set the timing. While you are under the hood (boot?), give the intake manifolds a shake just to make sure they are tight.Start ‘er up and give a listen. If you still hear noises you don’t like, start the fuel delivery & intake system checks…[Read more]

Here’s a reply from my favorite VW tech.
Fuel mixture could be too lean; check for loose intake manifolds, linkage binding problems, bad intake gasket.PMOSSBERG40287.6821296296 -

Wow. That is beautiful.I’ve been around this hobby since the early 1980s and do not recall this car.Gene’s comments are right on target. Black was not original. The headlight mounts should be painted body color (so should the headlight buckets! except for ’50 and ’51 TDs). Yes, painted door hinges are correct. This is the best TD history site…[Read more]
