The part the goes into the master cylinder should be the original VW part. Not sure what to call it. But it should be screwed into the front of the steel rod.
There should be almost no play at all.

Find the center and drill a hole. I forget the measurement, but it’s greater than a half inch. That’ll be easy to figure out once you have the parts.

Re the mirrors…outside, I only have the two fender mirrors. Both sides (driver and passenger) have convex lenses. Once you are used to them, you actually get a pretty good view. MG Magic wil probaly haev them. TD parts suppliers like Moss have them also. And I think even JC Whitney has them.

I may have picked up some TD-kit info over the years (my car’s been on the road since 1983!), and maybe even some VW know-how. But I don’t have the web-knowledge necessary to maintain the actual site.

There are many other significant differences between original tops and most (if not all) reproductions.

The Carlisle event is put on by Carlisle Productions,a  family run firm that puts on about 12 or so major car shows each year. Among them are shows focused on GM, Chrysler, Ford, motorcycles, Import/Kit/Replicars, corvette…much more detail on their web site.
So…no, this event does not “travel”. It’s always in Carlisle.
