Many guys run this Monza:http://www.justkampers.com.au/monza-4-tip-exhaust-bundle-kit-vw-t2-and-vw-beetle-1300cc-1600cc-1963-on.htmlOr a single tip version:http://www.mofoco.com/item/EMPI_3487_SINGLE_EXHAUST_MUFFLER_CHROME_TIP_VW_BUG_GHIA/390/c55But remember, these are air cooled engines in uninsulated engine compartments. Whew! That could have been much worse!Very happy the damage was minimal and easily repaired. And thanks for the reminder to all of us! Like the old carpenter’s adage to measure twice, cut once…there is nothing wrong with double and triple checking everything you do!

Re: Lake Weir
Lake Weir does not advertise “$90k houses”Look through their floor plans. They run from the $190s on up into the $400s. All homes are on 1/4 or 1/2 acre sites. And for those with RVs, the homes are designed to accommodate, either in garages, or on dedicated pads.I’m not advertising for them. I just think the neighborhood looks pretty… -

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Retractable Seat Belts in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 8 months ago
Not trying to be morbid, just realistic.
I see issues with Kall’s set up.“The belt goes up into the rear cockpit through a narrow slot….”With the forces involved in a real world accident, that “narrow slot” in the fiberglass is going to act like a knife, weakening (and potentially cutting through) the seatbelt web.
“…and passes through a metal… -

Allen…You wrote that you’d be bolting the shoulder belt “… inside of pillar just above the door hinge….”If that means you’d be attaching it to fiberglass, you’d probably be wasting your time. In the event of an accident, the forces would rip that bolt right out of the fiberglass, even with a giant fender washer behind it.I’ve read that even…[Read more]

Well if your tach is reading incorrectly, and the actual engine speed is 850 (or half of the 1700 you are seeing), then your idle speed is fine. Quick check…What does your tach read at about 60 mph? With a stock trans, it should be about 3,000.On to the “sticking” throttle….Is the tube in place that carries your throttle cable through the fan…[Read more]

My Duchess has a solid wood dash. Been so long I forget what kind of wood, but it is solid, not veneered plywood or pressboard, and is about 3/4″ thick. The top rear edge of the dash is routed out to provide the surface that mates to the fiberglass cowl, with only about an eighth or 3/16″ of wood remaining on the front side of the…[Read more]

Just a thought, but if you are in there anyway, consider replacing the plastic bushing with one of these and you likely will never have to touch it again.

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Windwing Hardware in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 8 months ago
The wing brackets Tom posted are the ones that are on my Duchess.
Remember, our windshield frames basically mount backwards. The groove faces the front, not rear.So the brackets are mounted on the new “front” of the frame and leave the side of the frame completely clear with nothing to interfere with the side curtain snaps. - Load More
