Don,I did not replace the shocks that came with the car when I purchased it. Why do you feel the shocks are two short?

Don because of the tight turns make sure the cable is well lubed. I went with an after market universal cable and cut it to length. You want free movement on this part with the right return spring.

I can deal with the less then great brakes but I know the kids are going to drive it and they are certainly not use to a car without modern stopping power.

On my calender there is no 29 in Feb, March 1 is correct and is on Thursday so I guess I’m not going to do anything on Wednesday since it doesn’t exist 🙂

Ray,I’m not sure those monroe shocks would work. It doesn’t appear the springs are adjustable on the shock. Your mg may ride to high.

Did you install uncut springs before deciding to shorten them by 1 1/4 turns?Yes I did and the front end was too tall.If I had to do it over again maybe I would take off another 1/4 but I’m happy with what I have. The ride is far more pleasant. I’d be interested in your thoughts when you get this step done.

Don,I bet your ford will be rather stiff with those cut springs. Remember the more you take off a spring the stiffer it gets. I’m still happy with what I posted above.

Why would the brake fluid be black if you just replaced the brake lines. Did they replace the brake lines without replacing the brake fluid, now that would be a trick I haven’t seen

See if there is a casting number on the master cylinder so we can identify what you have. Is it a Chevy master cylinder? Is it a chevy master with the vacumn booster removed? Not a good thing as it probably has the wrong bore size to work as a non-powered system.

Roy,
I have run out of garage space so I purchased one of those portable garage (tents) for the Maita. This car only goes out in nice weather and is put away in the car capsule around the first of December before the salt hits the road. This winter will be the third year the capsule will be used. It’s nice to put the car away for the winter, in…[Read more] - Load More
