I showed this film to a fiend of mine who is a motorcycle nut, he was impressed with the motorcycle riding part of the film. I asked him if he was going to try and do the stuff they did in the film. He said “No Way”, I’m 70 years old and want to make 71.

John,
I know the feeling, I’ve already put $35K in mine, and I’m still doing things. I could probably get $15K out of it if I’m lucky. You’re right on the repainting, it cost me $5k. I guess we’re all a little bit crazy about something in our life.Bill -

Rick,
When cars leave you that’s it, good memories etc., but when the woman leaves you it’s payments forever. But, we never learn, hope springs eternal, emotions trump common sense and we mary again, instead of looking for that old car we loved.Bill -

Paul,
When you say, ” I got close with my 1965 Plymouth Satellite. Sister car to the Dodge.” Does that mean so close that mean you smacked into the Dodge and did grievous bodily injury?Bill -

Hi Dave,
Send me your address to: RosebudandBill@aol.comI’m sure I can find you and stop for an ice tea, (Diet Peach Snapple).I’ll probably leave late June, take 10 days or so getting cross country, if Rosebud holds up, and if I hold up. I figure, I’m 74, if I don’t do it now, may not get another chance.Bill -

Here’s the one I miss the most, even with its Lucas Electrical System. This car always reminded me of a sexy lady, you just want to rub every part of it. It was about $6,000 brand new as I remember. It was 1969, and I just got a medical discharge after 10-1/2 years from the Marine Corps, and what better thing could I blow my money on.

John,
Aren’t there a couple more members in your area. They probably have to be old like us and retired, so they can take a month off. I guess that’s one of the blessings of having aged wonderfully.Bill -

Site see meaning local sites, in lieu of sight see.

John,
I got a route pretty well mapped out that would keep us on the backroads, roads suited to our mature machines. Figure 7 to 10 days across country, rest up and site see back there for 5 days or so, then turn around and do it in reverse.Bill -

John,
We could meet in Parker, AZ and head East from there on State Route 72 to Vicksburg, then head North to Flagstaff, then follow Route 160 to New Mexico, and then only a couple of thousand miles to go.What do you think?Bill -
Rosebud and Bill replied to the topic Carlisle report in the forum Clubs and Show 9 years, 10 months ago
Montie,
Right now the route Triple A provided me is more to the north, coming into Ohio near Van Wert on Route 224. I told Triple A to plan the route using backcounty roads, with 55 mph limits, etc. Maybe, on the way back to CA, change the route and swing south. Is Route 40 a slow type road or an Interstate with big rigs blowing me all over?Bill -

John,
Do you think this is doable, we take about a month round trip. You would lend some authenticity to the caper, being British. Everywhere we stop, you can be the spokesman, with your Brit accent. We’ll get you a monocle for one eye, and you can yell “The English are coming, (Returning).Bill -

George,
I’ve been trying to trace Route 40, The Lincoln Highway. It’s further north, probably cooler, since our cars of choice don’t have air conditioning. Also would like to stay north of the tornadoes.Bill - Load More
