Allen,
I tried to respond to your PM but screwed up somehow so my reply to your request is posted under my original post for the free seats, etc. Let me know what you wish me to do.
Bare in mind that my seats are from the CMC/Chevette kit but I assume the dimensions are similiar.Catch ya later,
RichardApril 8, 2011 at 11:24 pm #244153Also, if you look at the trim ring on the Mini it’s deeper than the rings on the TD’s. Not a satisfactory install for us at all. But since I like the vintage look of the guards I decided to keep them and use a “Mickey Mouse” way to attach them. The previous owner of my car had the old stone guards attached with nylon fishing line. The line was attached at 3 points around the guard and tied off to the 3 headlight terminals on the light itself. Even knowing how they’re held on, I can’t tell unless I’m within 2 feet of them.
April 7, 2011 at 2:51 pm #244148Well the stone guards from Victoria British arrived today, complete with mounting clips. Call me an idiot if you will, but I can see no way possible to mount the guards using the clips provided. To do so would require the rim to have cut outs for the clips. Without the cutouts the rims don’t clamp tightly onto the bulb. Or am I missing something, other than a few brain cells?
I tried to add a photo of the clips but the file was too large. 1.2kb and I don’t know how to reduce it.
If anyone else has used this type of mounting clip, please let me know how it was done. If I/we can’t figure it out I’ll probably ship these back in the next few days.
Thanks again

Really enjoy this site, great members, lots of info and assistance.
Thanks again,
RichardMarch 6, 2011 at 12:47 pm #243802Well it looks like no luggage rack for me. Did a whole bunch of measuring and number crunching and ended up with zip…I can’t use the tire step idea because my spare tire actually lays on the rear gas tank cover. P195/60 R14. It’s a fat tire with no space between it and the cover. In fact, it overhangs past the rear bumper by 4″. So that kills the bumper bracket mounting idea. And the 28-31 Ford Model A racks are 31″ wide so I can’t mount that one horizontally over the tire because it covers the gas cap leaving no way to add petrol. Tis a quandry, eh? Just have to travel light.
Enough of this chit-chat. Time to head out to the garage and yank the dash out. Have to finish the re-wiring job the last owner stalled out on. He started to install a new main fuse block and only hooked up 1 dash gauge and left ALL other wires hanging below the dash. AND NOT A ONE OF THEM IS MARKED AS TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM OR WHERE THEY GO.March 3, 2011 at 7:43 pm #243800The Runyon rack that Moss has is really what I’d like but at present the $$$ isn’t burning a hole in my pocket. What I’m currently considering is a 1928-31 Model A Ford rack that I see on Ebay for around $100. Chrome w/wood slats. Sharp looking luggage rack. I think mounts could be fabricated to attach to the bumper brackets (still mulling that over). That might be the way I’ll go if I can’t find anything closer to standard looking that won’t break the bank.
I just bought my little TD and it needs a bit of work. ie: finish the wiring, full interior, replace the dash, you know the drill.March 3, 2011 at 1:44 pm #242263Mike,
If you still have the pdf drawing of the luggage rack available I’d appreciate a copy.
Thanks much,
Richard

February 25, 2011 at 2:13 pm #243742I’d be more than happy to take them off your hands. How would you like to get payment for the shipping charges? I’ll keep watching this site but I frequently get lost and never seem to return to where I was. Otherwise you can reply to rj50willys@msn.com
Hope to hear from you.
