Steve, When you pull the lever up (with the engine running) do you feel any air coming out of the vents?  You do need heater boxes for the heat to work….and they need to be hooked up with the large hoses to the vents just forward of the boxes alongside the transaxle.  ….or, you may have “J-TUBES”
installed = no heat with your current rig. 

If the battery starts the engine, what makes you think that the alternator is not working exactly like it’s supposed to?  I’m not sure that you have a problem.  If the battery is already fully charged, the alternator is not supposed to be sending current to it else it would boil all the electrolyte out and your battery would be toast. 

Man, on any given sunny day it must be hard to decide which one to exercise!

Yeah, having to locate it a little higher on the gas tank/engine cover posses some issues but it is do able.

I clean it well with brake cleaner and then wipe it down the entire length with grease.

If you need one, get the Bus cable. It’s long enough to make the bends nice and easy. Hey guys, I forget–do we grease these or just drip a little motor oil or 3-in-1 down into the sheath?
