1. Yes. The footwell is usually fiberglass. On mine there is a void behind it. BUT…what is behind yours? Some have a gas tank there maybe.2. Leave the carb heat alone. Instead look at your cooling tins and at the way your fuel line is routed.

Sealed underneath mine looking for leak areas, Rainx on windshield, rainx anti-fog on inside of glass, adjusted brakes, fixed windshield wipers – now going a bit faster, fixed turn signal arm and other items.

Well here is the update. Bridget is looking good, though not all AutoX heandling goodies will be installed in time for Carlisle. Need to get a tire patched too. Here’s the update on where things stand now.

IMHO, it would probably cost less to buy an already assembled and running TDr.  The cost of all the “little” things accumulate and add up.  Yes, unassembled kits do show up occasionally but they are often missing pieces.  For a chrome grill, figure $800, for a new top another $800, side curtains $600, for the VW chassis in good condition, $1…[Read more]
