That’s about right Ed. This is not a K-Mart electric car kit. Good stuff. (But a Yugo is a Yugo.)

Just wanted to get the figure right. The 200 lbs (more or less) difference with the driver seated in the car works out to more than 10 percent of the total weight.BTW, I think one of the biggest selling points for the replicas–especially the VW variant–is how much roomier they are than the original. Wow. If this were five years ago I’d be all over that. It’s basically the rig I was going to put in Bridget–except I was going to try to fit 120 volts.
I priced the parts out (Curtiss controller for me) and stopped adding when I got to $6,000. That was in 2009. -

John is asking $3,000 for the whole rig. I know that he has a lot more than that into the parts and pieces than that. Of course, – no charge for labor.Having some difficulty posting pics. Will keep trying. -

I’d like to see this. And know the price.
The Warp 9 is the motor you want for this, if you’re going DC. But all the action (and a lot of money and trouble, usually–the more of one the less of the other) is in the controller.What’s the maker and spec on that? -

Paul, i’m confused. Again.
When I click the link in my post I get 12 pics of the build and the,much slower than a speeding bullet, completed Yugo.Seems to work for me. -

And we’re running.
Turns out I had the fuel pump in backwards. It was just blowing bubbles into the gas tank until I turned it around.Then she started right up. -

Yeah. The list of things to do is still pretty long though.
I think maybe the fuel injectors are stuck. the car/engine sat most of a year with no fuel on them.Back at it. -

Got her to fire, but cheated & used starting fluid to do it. Gonna have to fool with the fuel system a bit more.
But it seems as though the basic concept is operable: The ecu works; the car will run. -

You guys are all spoiled. There wasn’t a scale at the dump or a grain elevator or a DOT big rig weigh station within an hour’s drive of my house.

Bridget is back home. Exhaust and coolant pipes all done, save for a few clamps and some flexy connections.. Gonna try to dry start today. Fingers crossed.:-)
