That’s it. I got one at a junk yard a few years ago for $5 or $7. Bit of a hunt, but they’re there.
The offset is good as well.

Have fun. It may be (with a little luck) that only the throttle shaft needs replacing and the bushings are ok. That’s relatively simple and straightforward.

There are instructions for setting the float height on-line. It…[Read more]

If you are leaking fuel, it sounds more like your float is set too high or is leaking by or you have a leaking gasket. The reason I say this is because the throttle shaft and bushings are normally under vacuum and would only leak air into the manifold which would cause a lean mixture. Squirt some oil on the throttle shaft and see if it changes i…[Read more]

The reason that we had such a Rube Goldberg fix on the linkage of Jack’s Holley BugSpray was because of interference with the alternator. I had no problems at all with my “old school” generator.

Hey Ed,
The issue with the throttle cable has to do with the route the cable has to take to reach the BugSpray Carb. We had to chop down the intake manifold to get it to fit under the engine cover on the BCW — which forced us to re-route the throttle cable into the left side of the engine compartment and then take a sharp bend to reach the…[Read more]

Remember when tires had inner tubes? Well, I have a large one on hand and am planning cutting it up and seeing about making a better seal in/for Migi. Before the show in Virginia Beach.

Ed, surely you know that these aren’t really problems…..only challenges. Something to have fun with and keep us out of the bars. 🙂

More tin is better. You can seal the top of the motor from the bottom/exhaust with a little ingenuity. I think Jack’s car has rubber flaps.
Bridget has small gaps at the sides but ran cool enough (according to my Gene Berg dipstick thermo-warning device) no matter what. And still does, according to the guy what bought it from me two years ago…

Great observations — and good idea John about starting a new thread —
I guess I’ll switch to synthetic oil AFTER I check out my engine cooling system…. Thanks John for the citations and references and Kentt, great observation on how we TDr’s (and the companies who made the kits) tend to not pay attention to proper engine tim and engine…[Read more]

Nice work and a great lesson to everyone: First, look carefully at everything from every angle, THEN decide the most efficient way to fix!
Would that I followed my own advice more often.

Sorry to hear of your trouble, Jack.
I add my endorsement to the idea of not removing the thermostat and air vanes. Thing to do with those is tinker with them until they work right.
I doubt that your carb is what made your temp go up. Unless the carb was leaning you out at 70 mph, yout temp went up because of an air flow issue. Look for…[Read more]
