There should be a tiny C-clip on the cable end that sticks out through the grease cap on the wheel. A little pick or eyeglass screwdriver will get it off. Then just pull it out from behind. The other end has a screw collar on the back of the speedometer. Order a bus cable to replace it, and squirt some liquid graphite in the sheave before installing it.

MINI Takes the States hits Pittsburg July 12th. They have scheduled an evening at the Highmark Stadium, but I believe there is a giant car show down the road from the Station Square Sheraton we’ll be crashing at. BCWs did not have front end ballast. 

The ’80’s were a terrible time for engines. They typically had 3 miles of vacuum hoses with dozens of time delay vacuum check valves, solenoids, and relays all in an attempt to meet federal emission regulations. If your engine is missing all this stuff, I can only think that is a good thing.
