Bet the car is on video. Don’t forget: it was the early 80s by the time BCW was up and running. The time of Videos…

We are nearly ready.I’ve got the domain transferred and am now just waiting for the “right time” to make the final copy of the site and forum data into the new system. I’m going to look at the logs and see if I can find the day/time that has the least use and try and match that up with when I have time to make a go at it. I’ll post a note here…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Replacing Speedo Cable in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 3 months ago
There should be a tiny C-clip on the cable end that sticks out through the grease cap on the wheel. A little pick or eyeglass screwdriver will get it off. Then just pull it out from behind. The other end has a screw collar on the back of the speedometer. Order a bus cable to replace it, and squirt some liquid graphite in the sheave before installing it.

MINI Takes the States hits Pittsburg July 12th. They have scheduled an evening at the Highmark Stadium, but I believe there is a giant car show down the road from the Station Square Sheraton we’ll be crashing at. Wednesday morning we gather at the Meadows before leaving for Detroit. If I see anyone, cool. If not, have a great time.

Vicenc, if you can get Ed’s experienced advice on removing the small leaves from your torsion beam assembly, you will be amazed at the result. Your ride will be much smoother and more comfortable and controllable. It’s the right fix.

Hi all,
I just checked out the Grand Prix web site and it sure looks like a great venue. I may come up in my daily driver just to attend the festivities. Other than Vicenc (and Ed?), who else is “in?” When are you getting there (it looks like a week-long holiday bookended by some serious weekend events)? Where are you all staying?Happy Jack -

So cool, Bryce, that you have all that paperwork. I have all mine too???or most of it???we should compare notes. My car’s builder still lives at the address I found in the build package, so I won’t be putting that up here…
Ballast: I’m against it, I think these cars can be made to handle pretty well without it, and lighter is better, in general,… -

Step 1 done. Next will come the real work. Not sure yet if I will have time during the week or if it will have to wait for next weekend. Either way we are moving closer. And thanks for the thanks.

The domain transfer happened overnight. “tdreplica.com” still points to the same server, it’s just who does the pointing that changed. There should be no side-effects, but, you never know. If you do see problems, try refreshing the page.I’m backing everything up (again) just in case.stephenhouser2016-06-04 07:17:58

The ’80’s were a terrible time for engines. They typically had 3 miles of vacuum hoses with dozens of time delay vacuum check valves, solenoids, and relays all in an attempt to meet federal emission regulations. If your engine is missing all this stuff, I can only think that is a good thing.
