You could also try to find one of the speed monitoring displays on the highway where they display your speed as you are approaching the check point

dbrock,
Not sure about the Migi 2 wiring. I went through my wiring when I first got mine and went back & forth between that diagram and the VW factory manual wiring diagram and there were very few (only minor) differences in what I saw (and updated) in my car. I’m not sure if the previous owner made everything identical to the ’69 VW wiring l…[Read more] -

I have a secret to reveal. The rear view mirrors on the sides of the windshield are actually Suzuki motorcycle mirrors.

dbrock,
I just finished up replacing the front-end on my 51 MiGi (69 VW underneath). I replaced the steering box as well. If you have made sure that your steering linkage is OK, then you can try adjusting the steering box. Muir’s book has a procedure, and the VW factory manual will have a procedure as well. The adjustment is the scre…[Read more] -

I changed my timing from 25 deg BTDC to 32 deg BTDC and it seems to run cooler. We’ve had some cooler days and that helped. It runs consistently around 225 now. I’m still looking into ways to bring it down even more. Full-flowing is something I might try this winter when I have it stored in the garage.

I re-fitted the fuel inlet tube with epoxy, and I am going to safety wire everything after thinking about it some more.
Years ago I lost a car (67 Olds Cutlass, brand new) to a fire. I was driving along and kept hearing a car horn behind but wasn’t paying much attention. Suddenly, the engine quit and everything on the dash lit up. I pulled ov…[Read more] -

Pink,
Thanks. The tin is chrome that the PO put on the engine so I’m in the process of determining if all the correct stuff is there. I know the thermostat is gone but I don’t know about the flaps, etc. The temp is coming from the oil sending unit. Also, the reason I asked about the compartment is that on a bug or a buggy the air can esc…[Read more] -

Thanks Pink! I’m going to fabricate something and put a real spare on the rear. MG Magic has a bracket kit & cover but I’ve haven’t gotten his mail brochure yet to see how much it is.
We got our Fiberfab MiGi yesterday afternoon and must have driven it for four hours. I hated to go home. I have never been so enthralled by a vehicle bef…[Read more] -
