October 9, 2013 at 1:50 pm #257562Ok…..Here is what I’ve done so I can drive my car WITHOUT the tire rubbing the fender. For now…I have re-installed the coil-over shock that was on there. BUT…. I took two of the big washers that holt the bushing on the top of the shock and put them on first face to face. then added two flat washers, now the bushing stubbed it up thru the bracket, put on the top bushing, then the washer, let the car down and put the nut on. Test drove and NO RUBBING!! Got out during the drive and looked at the car, plenty of clearance between tire and fender and car looks level. I hope this helps all who have this problem. Its inexpensive and quick. I’m sure this is not the proper way but I want to drive this thing. The weather is GREAT in SC right now.Shakey572013-10-09 13:53:51
October 6, 2013 at 7:28 pm #236286Headlight bracket did not help at all. I tried all kinds of things so i’m back to square one.
October 6, 2013 at 7:26 pm #257555Thanks Allen. I spent all day trying different thing. Headlight mount move, spacers between VW pan and kit floor I even tried to move the body over on the pan. Nothing works. I need to get longer shocks or cut the tubes to get the tire under the fender. What a pain. I thought these kits were bolt on then hold on. What have I got into.
October 6, 2013 at 12:21 pm #236285On the back when I ordered my new hubcaps the dealer said that I needed spacers because of the length of the hub. So I got those. I will post photos of my ride (Jennifer) when I finish with the fender. I will also let you know if moving the headlight bracket works.
October 6, 2013 at 12:16 pm #257728I’m going out now to check measurements. then look at moving my light bracket ( the hood side) in a bit to pull the fender up. Thanks for the help.
October 6, 2013 at 12:10 pm #257553Hey when the kits come are the fender holes predrilled? could it be I just need to re bolt my fender higher? has this been done before?
October 6, 2013 at 12:06 pm #257768Wow, thanks for the pics. That helps a lot. I know you guys get tired of re-showing this stuff but for the new members it is a good thing. Thanks to all of you.
October 5, 2013 at 9:19 pm #257725Sorry…I thought it was you.
October 5, 2013 at 8:55 pm #254313Paul I took your advice and ordered my mirrors today. Fender mount convex. Thanks for the info Paul.
October 5, 2013 at 8:31 pm #257766Thanks Allen. This sounds fairly easy. I really had NO idea what I was getting into when I bought this car. With all ya’ll (you guys) helping I might make it thru.
October 5, 2013 at 8:26 pm #236283Thanks Paul. I see them. NOW.. where do I get info about my drivers tire rubbing the fender? looks like all of ya’ll want to lower your ride while I need to raise mine. At least on the left.
October 5, 2013 at 7:40 pm #257764Hey Allen…please forgive me i’m new to all of this. Is this done from inside at the shifter? there are two bolts that hold a plate down for the stick , is this where I go in?
October 5, 2013 at 7:15 pm #236281Thank you so much. What a great site this is. That fixes the ride now I’ve got to fix the driver side tire from rubbing the fender.
October 5, 2013 at 4:04 pm #257552Hey, I too have trouble but just the left fender rubs. It is closer to the tire on flat ground. I did not build it so I don’t what to look at first. But if the right is ok why is the left not. I replaced the shocks with standard VW/1970 shocks and no help there. What’s next for me to try? all stock no disk and no adapters.Shakey572013-10-05 20:33:53

October 5, 2013 at 3:22 pm #257722Hey Paul Mossberg. You said the left front fender is different. Is that why my tire rubs on it? What do I do about it?
