I pushed the body/frame outside. This is before I start the process of adding 11″ to the frame. -

Before I stretched the Spitfire frame, I placed the TD replica body on top to see where the problems were. Very instructive. -

ricrx7 – I agree. I plan a use a more modern engine..I also like the idea of a Volvo engine. I owned several back in the 70s and 80s and I found them to be very reliable. About 20 years ago I rebuild a Daytona Migi that sounds similar to the one you found. Mine had the rear fenders molded into the body tub and the fiberglass grill. Many thanks for the warm welcome. I can see this forum is a great place to discuss ideas. After getting the kit home and spending the day just inspecting the firewall, bottom moldings, and taking some measurements, I can see the problems of converting it to a front engined setup. It really is set up for installing on a VW pan.
