Just joined the Mid-State Antique Auto Club in Massachusetts. I’ve only been to 2 meetings. This club pretty much does similar things as Greg Press’ AACA club. I’ll gain more knowledge of this club as I attend more meetings.

Well i used static timing to judge how compression was ,today a friend came by with a real one ,,,well 4th cylinder was at 60 lbs. #3at 80 was it the valves? still no miss . we pulled the head and sending it out to be checked
if the valves are good ,than i guess rings , Dan -

Paul;
Good to here its up and running again.I will be the first to say new parts can go bad.A new pertronics unit on mine with only 20 miles on it.Put the points back in and no issues in 1700 miles -

Dan what about the plug wires? Do you have an old set you can swap out.

Plymouth made it about 40 miles, started all over again with the same symptoms.My retired master mechanic buddy is fearful the cam and crank are out of sync; the timing chain may have jumped a tooth, the distributor drive gear on the tail end of the cam could be worn. More to come on that saga!

Greg – you should remove that box and plug up the hole in the top of the shroud with some metal (may be able to pop rivet something on there). While you may be getting slightly more air blown into the carb, you are losing cooling air out through that hole instead of it blowing down the driver’s side of the shroud over the oil cooler and #3…[Read more]

Dan, I forget if you have a Ford or Chevy, but either way I’d check the vacuum hose to the distributor and then play with the timing. You checked the timing but was that a static check? I have found that initial timing and the best timing may be a long way apart. Change the timing, (probably advance it), drive, change, drive, etc. It sou…[Read more]

Roy, I used to have one [electric ] supercharger on a Camaro, i paid $100.00 for it and was disapointed
…. I still have the Camaro with out it, all they are is a bilge blower, and are used on a small engine and must be fuel injected. Dan -
