Yes, I did drive it. Fun car, but not for me. The rear view mirror is directly in my line of vision. I couldn’t put up with that everyday. She’s much shorter and can look under it. Skid pad test put it at .87 g’s with the factory 17″ run flats. I have a set of 18″ wheels from her old one, which when fitted with performance rubber, will vastly…[Read more]

I picked up a Dopke last year, in the process of painting it like my car. If you need any parts they are avaliable from Thomas Toys or some times you find parts on ebay.
Mine had a broken windshield so I talked he dealer WAAAY down, got the TD and a black sambo fishing lure in the box(I collect old tackle too) for $75. I was going to orde… -

Plastic models like Revell and Monogram are hard to find as well. Here’s a nice Dopke I found on eBay. And what is surprising is they actually have piece parts, decals, and such for sale for Dopke MGTD toy cars. …[Read more]

Good buy, Greg. I picked up a little TD bank a couple years ago ($15, say) and saw a lot of the Doepke models for sale for a lot more–and often looking much the worse for wear. There does seem to be a market for them.

Thanks Larry. That is exactly what the plate on mine says. In talking to the mechanic that works on my Mercedes, he told me the chassis mine is on is probably a 66 VW. The engine has a plate from BAR saying it is a 66 engine. Car is titled as a 1980 though. Creating all kinds of havoc trying to get around the SMOG requirement here!!!

Easiest thing to do is take them to a front end shop. They can press the old ones out and the new ones in in short order. Or if you know someone with a press you can do it yourself. Be careful.
